No data are available on determining right atrial and ventricular size by two-dimensional echocardiography. We performed echocardiograms eight human right-heart casts obtained at autopsy 50 patients who underwent complete left- catheterization. Measurement of individual dimensions the long short axes atrium ventricle from heart closely correlated with volume these structures as determined water displacement. Further, cross-sectional echo well actual dimensions. Subsequently,...

The long-term efficacy of the new oral vasodilator, prazosin (PZ), was evaluated in nine patients with refractory heart failure due to chronic coronary disease. Ventricular function assessed by cardiac catheterization, echocardiography, and treadmill testing; symptomatic evaluation carried out for two four months. One hour following 2-7 mg PZ, control left ventricular filling pressure reduced (32 18 mm Hg, P less than 0.001) index elevated (1.95 2.89 L/min/m2, a 6-hour period. After weeks PZ...

Few data are available regarding the effects of exercise training upon cardiac structure and performance in man. We evaluated echograms 24 normals before (PRE) after (POST) 11 weeks endurance training. Conditioning consisted a walk-jog-run protocol at 70% maximal heart rate for one hour four days per week. Training reduced increased duration estimated oxygen consumption treadmill exercise. Compared to PRE, echogram POST period revealed an left ventricular (LV) end-diastolic dimension (EdD),...

We studied 25 patients with anterior myocardial infarction and two congestive cardiomyopathy to evaluate two-dimensional echocardiography in the diagnosis of left ventricular thrombi. Five coronary had systemic emboli. Four these manifested apical filling defects on cineangiogram, while a levophase cine was equivocal for clot fifth patient. Neither nor cineangiography visualized thrombi nonembolus patients. Echoes from distinct mass, however, were all five embolus group by at cardiac apex....

Ambulatory monitoring and maximal treadmill exercise were compared in 40 normal subjects 31 patients with mitral prolapse. A variable arrhythmia spectrum was observed prolapse during monitoring: premature ventricular contractions 18 (58%), supraventricular arrhythmias 11 (35%), bradyarrhythmias 9 (29%). Significantly less occurred 10 (25%, P > 0.001), 3 (8%, < 4 (10%, 0.05), 2 (5%, 0.02), respectively. In prolapse, on resting electrocardiogram (ECG), 35% contractions, 6% arrhythmias, 10%...

Symptoms of congestive heart failure frequently reflect abnormalities in both systolic and diastolic performance. While much work has been reported regarding the mechanisms by which positive inotropic vasodilator therapy affect performance, little is known about their effect on function. In 12 patients with diffuse cardiomyopathy micromanometer left ventricular aortic pressure measurements were recorded simultaneously two-dimensionally targeted M mode echocardiograms...

The effects of abnormal ventricular activation upon the contractile pattern ventricles in patients with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (WPW) remain uncertain. Therefore we compared motion anterior right wall (RV), interventricular septum (IVS), and left posterior (LVPW) on echogram nine WPW one patient a coronary sinus pacemaker (CSP) to 20 normal subjects. Normal subjects manifested RV which began reached maximal excursion at 175 366 msec (group mean), respectively, after onset QRS complex;...

To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers in patients with probable cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) according to modified Boston criteria a retrospective multicentric cohort.Beta-amyloid 1-40 (Aβ40), beta-amyloid 1-42 (Aβ42), total tau (t-tau), and phosphorylated 181 (p-tau181) were measured 31 CAA, 28 Alzheimer's disease (AD), 30 controls. Receiver-operating characteristics (ROC) analyses performed for parameters as well Aβ42/40 ratio estimate parameters....

The purpose of the COMPLETE (International Acute Ischemic Stroke Registry With Penumbra System Aspiration Including 3D Revascularization Device) registry was to evaluate generalizability safety and efficacy (Penumbra, Inc, Alameda) in a real-world setting.COMPLETE global, prospective, postmarket, multicenter registry. Patients with large vessel occlusion-acute ischemic stroke who underwent mechanical thrombectomy using or without Device as frontline approach were enrolled at 42 centers (29...

Abstract Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) is rarely performed in dizzy patients with acute vestibular syndrome (AVS) or imbalance (AIS) even if posterior circulation stroke (PCS) suspected. Decision-making may be affected by uncertainties discriminating central from peripheral vestibulopathy concerns of IVT-related harm, particularly intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), but related studies are missing. Using an in-house register coming to the emergency room, we identified 29 AVS/AIS who presented...

Material Methoden: Die vorliegende...
