Although more patients are surviving COVID-19, there emerging data on a substantial proportion of with persisting, and often debilitating, symptoms sequelae for months following acute COVID-19. PURPOSE: To determine the diagnostic capability of thallium-201 ( 201 Tl) single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) combined with Epstein-Barr virus DNA (EBV-DNA) in CSF for diagnosis AIDS-related primary CNS lymphoma (PCNSL). PATIENTS AND METHODS: All human immunodeficiency (HIV)–infected patients focal brain lesions observed between June 1996 and March 1998 underwent lumbar puncture Tl SPECT. Each sample was tested polymerase chain reaction (PCR) EBV-DNA. RESULTS: Thirty-one were...

We describe 3 children with new-onset neurocognitive problems after coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), that showed, at the brain [18F]-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography, hypometabolism in left orbito-frontal region. The voxel-wise analysis confirmed a cluster of hypometabolic voxels this region peak −18/46/−4mm (179 voxels, T-Score 8.1). These findings may explain symptoms some develop COVID-19 and require further investigations

Background: Nerve growth factor (NGF) promotes neural recovery after experimental traumatic brain injury (TBI) supporting neuronal growth, differentiation and survival of cells up-regulating the neurogenesis-associated protein Doublecortin (DCX). Only a few studies reported NGF administration in paediatric patients with severe TBI.Methods: A four-year-old boy persistent unresponsive wakefulness syndrome (UWS) was treated intranasal murine 6 months TBI. The patient received four cycles (0.1...

Abstract Background There is increasing evidence that chronic endotheliopathy can play a role in patients with Post‐Covid Condition (PCC, or Long Covid) by affecting peripheral vascularization. This pilot study aimed at assessing lung perfusion children Long‐COVID 99m Tc‐MAA SPECT/CT. Materials and Methods SPECT/CT was performed pathological cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET). Intravenous injections were on the supine position immediately before planar scan according to EANM guidelines...

To characterize clinically and molecularly an early-onset, variably progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by a cerebellar syndrome with severe ataxia, gaze palsy, dyskinesia, dystonia, cognitive decline affecting 11 individuals from 3 consanguineous families. We used whole-exome sequencing (WES) (families 1 2) combined approach based on homozygosity mapping WES (family 3). We performed in vitro studies to explore the effect of nontruncating SQSTM1 mutation protein function...

Hypoxic-ischemic brain injuries in childhood are associated with poor neurological outcome. Recently, experimental and clinical works show that nerve growth factor (NGF) reduces deficits promotes endothelial cells proliferation angiogenesis following hypoxic-ischemic injuries. After stroke, new neurons express a protein, called doublecortin (DCX), which indicates marker for neurogenesis migrating neuroblasts. This study investigates the effects of intraventricular NGF administration two...

Abstract Although the involvement of dopamine in gambling disorder (GD) has long been hypothesized, its precise role remains unclear. The action synapses is regulated by transporter (DAT). Directional deep brain stimulation (DBS) leads allow a fine-tuning control of the field, however, this new technology could increase DBS programming time because higher number possible combinations used in directional than standard nondirectional electrodes. Neuroimaging localization techniques and local field potentials (LFPs) recorded from electrodes implanted basal ganglia are among most studied biomarkers for programing. This study aimed to evaluate whether intraoperative LFPs beta power...
