Allogeneic umbilical cord blood (UCB) has therapeutic potential for cerebral palsy (CP). Concomitant administration of recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO) may boost the efficacy UCB, as it neurotrophic effects. The objectives this study were to assess safety and allogeneic UCB potentiated with rhEPO in children CP. Children CP randomly assigned one three parallel groups: pUCB group, which received rhEPO; EPO placebo UCB; Control rhEPO. All participants rehabilitation therapy. main...

The Japanese eel endothelial cell-infecting virus (JEECV) and Anguilla herpesvirus (AnHV) are major pathogens in farmed eels. JEECV causes viral cell necrosis (VECNE), while AnHV leads to symptoms such as head erythema gill necrosis, respectively. Both viruses can result severe mortality, either independently or combination, necessitating rapid early detection of their presence. In this study, we developed a highly efficient duplex quantitative PCR method (R² = 0.999) using TaqMan probes for...

To investigate the prognostic value of cross-sectional areas (CSA) paraspinal (multifidus and erector spinae) psoas muscles on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in chronicity low back pain.Thirty-eight subjects who visited our hospital for acute pain were enrolled. Review their medical records telephone interviews done. Subjects divided into two groups; chronic group (CBP) a showing improvement within 6 months after onset (IBP). The CSA obtained at level lower margin L3 L5 vertebrae using...

Previous studies on the anatomy of lumbar spine have not clarified precise relationship origin roots to their corresponding discs or angulation dural sac. We studied 33 cadavers (25 formalin-preserved and eight fresh-frozen) radiographs determine these details. All showed a gradual decrease in angle nerve root from L1 S1. The was found be below disc for L4 roots. In 8% L5 originated above, 64% 28% at L4/L5 disc. fresh values were 12.5%, 62.5% 25%, respectively. For S1 76% above 24% L5-S1 75%...

The mechanism of bacterial resistance to tributyltin (TBT) is still unclear. results herein presented contribute clarify that in the TBT-resistant bacterium Aeromonas molluscorum Av27. We have identified and cloned a new gene involved TBT this strain. highly homologous (84%) hydrophila-sugE belonging small multidrug family (SMR), which includes genes transport lipophilic drugs. In Av27, expression Av27-sugE was observed at early logarithmic growth phase presence high concentration (500 μM),...

The study surveyed infection rate of septempunctata parasitized in the trunk...

To evaluate the safety and potential efficacy of "recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH)" on functional recovery completed stroke patients.Completed patients were recruited. All participants randomly assigned to GH group (rhGH injection rehabilitative therapy) or control (only therapy). Above all, they closely monitored for safety. Further, measurement, Korean Modified Barthel Index (K-MBI), Manual Muscle strength Test (MMT), Fugl-Meyer assessment (FMA) assessed determine changes during...

Heavy oil (HO) pollution is one of the most important environmental issues globally. However, little known about immunotoxicity HO in fish. We therefore investigated effects exposure on immunocompetence and expression immune-related genes Japanese flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus. To test immunocompetency, serum collected from fish was mixed with Edwardsiella tarda, plated, resultant numbers bacterial colonies were counted. Plates HO-exposed (5 d postexposure [dpe]) had significantly higher...

Objective To obtain reliability and applicability of the Korean version Bayley Scale Infant Development-II (BSID-II) in evaluating developmental status children with cerebral palsy (CP). Methods The inter-rater BSID-II scores from 68 CP (46 boys 22 girls; mean age, 32.54±16.76 months; age range, 4 to 78 months) was evaluated by 10 pediatric occupational therapists. Patients were classified several ways according group, typology, severity motor impairment level Gross Motor Function...

The arylhydrocarbon receptor (AhR) is an important signaling pathway in the immune system of mammals. In addition to its physiological functions, mediates immunotoxic actions a diverse range environmental contaminants that bind and activate AhR, including planar halogenated aromatic hydrocarbons (PHAHs or dioxin-like compounds) polynuclear (PAHs). AhR-binding xenobiotics are not only mammals but teleost fish as well. To date, however, it unknown if AhR active thus may act molecular...
