Fruit ripening in response to treatments with propylene, 1-methycyclopropene (1-MCP), and low temperature was characterized 'Sanuki Gold' kiwifruit, Actinidia chinensis Planch. Propylene treatment immediately induced rapid fruit softening, increased AC-PG (polygalacturonase) AC-EXP (expansin) mRNA accumulation, stimulated an increase the soluble solid concentration (SSC) a decrease titratable acidity (TA). After 3 d exposure ethylene production AC-PL (pectate lyase) accumulation were...

Abstract The stereochemistry in the conversion of (E)-α,β-unsaturated esters into corresponding β,γ-unsaturated esters, and that aldehydes silyl enol ethers, were investigated. Z/E ratios resulting ethers varied according to γ-substituents α-substituents aldehydes, respectively. This phenomenon was rationalized by a “syn-effect”, which may be attributed primarily σ → π* interaction and/or 6π-electron homoaromaticity.

Our previous study revealed that human CYP24A1 catalyzes a remarkable metabolism consisting of both C-23 and C-24 hydroxylation pathways used 25(OH)D(3) 1alpha,25(OH)(2)D(3) as substrates, while rat showed extreme predominance the over pathway [Sakaki, T., Sawada, N., Komai, K., Shiozawa, S., Yamada, Yamamoto, Ohyama, Y. Inouye, K. (2000) Eur. J. Biochem. 267, 6158-6165]. In this study, by using Escherichia coli expression system for CYP24A1, we identified 25,26,27-trinor-23-ene-D(3)...

Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and ErbB2 are currently recognized as validated target molecules in cancer treatment strategies. MP-412 (AV-412) is a potent dual inhibitor of EGFR tyrosine kinases, including the mutant EGFR(L858R,T790M), which clinically resistant to EGFR-specific kinase inhibitors erlotinib gefitinib. Lipases versatile enzymes chiral syntheses, and highly activated when immobilized in alkyl-substituted silicates by the sol-gel method. For practical application lipases to a flow system, microbioreactor loaded with macroporous silica monolith is well suited, because it can be easily integrated chromatographic separator optical resolution. Recently, we demonstrated that some A-ring-modified vitamin D3 analogs had unique biological activity. Of these analogs, 2α-propoxy-1α,25(OH)2D3 (C3O1) and 2α-(3-hydroxypropoxy)-1α,25(OH)2D3 (O2C3) were examined for metabolism by CYP27A1 CYP24A1. Surprisingly, catalyzed the conversion from C3O1 to O2C3, which has 3 times more affinity D receptor than C3O1. Thus, O2C3 is considered be a metabolic activation process. Five metabolites...
