ABSTRACT: Mouse monoclonal antibodies have been produced against syncytiotrophoblast plasma membrane preparations isolated from term human placentas. Of 20 positive clones, two (H309, H318) were directed the C γ 2 domain of IgG, one (H312) was albumin, and another (H303) a further normal serum component (not transferrin). One antibody (H310) recognized an antigenic epitope restricted to trophoblast lymphocytes: this did not inhibit mitogenic or allogeneic stimulation lymphocytes. Two (H315...

BACKGROUND: Preeclampsia is a severe hypertensive disorder in pregnancy that causes preterm delivery, maternal and fetal morbidity, mortality, life-long sequelae. Understanding the pathogenesis of preeclampsia critical first step toward protecting mother child from this syndrome increased risk cardiovascular disease later life. However, effective early predictive tests therapies for are scarce. METHODS: To identify novel markers signaling pathways onset preeclampsia, we profiled human...

Twenty four infants between 27 and 33 weeks9 gestation were recruited into a double blind study to investigate the use of recombinant human erythropoietin (r-HuEpo) for prevention anaemia prematurity. Between 50 150 U r-HuEpo (n = 16) or placebo was administered subcutaneously twice week from 7 days age until discharge. There significant increase in reticulocyte count receiving sustained second treatment discharge compared with placebo. reduction number transfusions required group only 47%...

Preeclampsia is a frequent obstetric complication which affects the mother`s and fetus's health can be life threatening. It also has an impact on psychological outcomes. There may protective variables such as resilience shielding against psychosocial distress in women experiencing these pregnancy complications. The aim of this study was to examine differences terms quality life, depression post-traumatic stress symptoms after preeclampsia. Four international validated questionnaires were...

Objective: The aim of this observational cohort study was to explore concerns, mood state, quality life (QoL) and treatment satisfaction women treated for gestational diabetes (GDM). Methods:Twenty-seven diet-treated 18 insulin-treated participated in a semi-structured interview completed series three different questionnaires. Results: Qualitative analysis identified "the baby's health" as dominant concern, but also main motivational factor. Treatment generally high further increased,...

The isolation of a low molecular weight fraction from amniotic fluid with broad spectrum antimicrobial activity is reported. This consists family peptides whose bactericidal zinc dependent and can be inhibited by phosphate. Peptides are present in early gestation concentration increasing amount about 28 weeks when becomes detectable whole fluid. A simple bacteriological assay for this material described. Its relation to the occurrence perinatal infection discussed.

Antigen-binding cells specific for Type 3 pneumococcal polysaccharide were detected among normal human peripheral blood lymphocytes, tonsillar and umbilical cord lymphocytes. By using mu delta-specific antiserum it was shown that some antigen-binding simultaneously expressed both IgM IgD on their surface. Both classes individual able to bind the same antigen, suggesting variable regions of each immunoglobulin class, when present cell membrane, are coded by V gene.

Soluble FMS-like Tyrosine Kinase 1 (sFlt-1) and placental growth factor (PlGF) have been reported to be highly predictive several weeks before the onset of preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is characterised by an increased platelet consumption with consecutive reduction of overall count and a rise in mean volume (MPV). MPV has therefore been suggested as predictive marker for preeclampsia. We aimed to investigate longitudinally women preeclampsia compared healthy controls during pregnancy potential early detection compare changes against the sFlt-1/PlGF ratio. This longitudinal study included 38 84 normal pregnancies, where sFlt-1 PLGF levels were determined every 4...

It frequently leads to preterm delivery, maternal fetal morbidity mortality life-long complications 1 . We currently lack efficient screening tools 2, 3 early therapies 4, 5 address PE. To investigate stages of onset PE, identify candidate markers pathways, we performed spatio-temporal multi-omics profiling human PE placentae healthy controls validated targets...
