Small bowel cancer (SBC) is one of the tumours associated with Lynch syndrome (LS). To advise on screening for this tumour it paramount to be informed about lifetime risk. The aim study was calculate risk SBC in LS and identify possible factors.Clinical pathological data were collected 1496 proven or putative carriers a mismatch repair gene mutation from 189 families. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis used assess potential factors.28 (1.9%) (putative) identified SBC. median age at diagnosis 52...

Abstract Marketing authorization holders of vaccines typically need to report brand-specific vaccine effectiveness (VE) the regulatory authorities as part their obligations. COVIDRIVE (now id. DRIVE) is a European public–private partnership for respiratory pathogen surveillance and studies VE with long-term follow-up. We final results from two-dose primary series AZD1222 (ChAdOx1 nCoV-19) schedule in ≥18-year-old individuals not receiving boosters. Patients (N = 1,333) hospitalized severe...

Abstract Background Ad26.COV2.S (Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine) is a replication-incompetent viral-vector vaccine used in the international response to SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. id.DRIVE (previously COVIDRIVE) public private partnership that conducts infectious disease studies on vaccines and therapeutics European region. Here we present post-authorization study assessing effectiveness (VE) of single dose against hospitalization. Methods The was non-interventional, multicentric, combined retrospective...

JCOVDEN (Ad26.COV2.S), a viral-vector vaccine, was granted conditional marketing authorisation in the European Union for prevention of COVID-19 early 2021. We present single-dose vaccine effectiveness (VE) estimates against hospitalisation. The id.DRIVE (previously COVIDRIVE) VE study is an ongoing non-interventional, multi-centre with test-negative case-control design. Study participants were adults ≥ 18 years old, hospitalised severe acute respiratory infection between 1 May 2021 and 28...

Purpose: Intraplaque neovascularization (IPN) is an increasingly studied marker of the vulnerable atherosclerotic plaque, and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in vivo imaging technique for assessment IPN. The purpose this study was to test novel quantification methods detection carotid IPN using CEUS. Materials Methods: 25 patients with established atherosclerosis underwent bilateral CEUS a Philips iU-22 system L9 – 3 transducer. Visual scoring performed 3-point score....

Most techniques for contrast-enhanced ultrasound imaging require linear propagation to detect nonlinear scattering of contrast agent microbubbles. Waveform distortion due impairs their ability distinguish microbubbles from tissue. As a result, tissue can be misclassified as microbubbles, and concentration overestimated; therefore, these artifacts significantly impair the quality medical diagnoses. Contrary biological tissue, lipid-coated gas used allow interaction two acoustic waves...

Intraplaque neovascularization (IPN) has been linked with progressive atherosclerotic disease and plaque instability in several studies. Quantification of IPN may allow early detection vulnerable plaques. A dedicated motion compensation method normalized-cross-correlation (NCC) block matching combined multidimensional (2D+time) dynamic programming (MDP) was developed for quantification small plaques (<30% diameter stenosis). The compared to NCC without MDP (forward tracking (FT)) showed...

The sensitivity of standard carotid ultrasound and colour Doppler for the detection subclinical atherosclerotic plaques is suboptimal. aim this study to assess whether contrast-enhanced (CEUS) added improves atherosclerosis. Carotid intima–media thickness (CIMT) measurement, including imaging, CEUS were performed in 100 asymptomatic patients with one or more risk factors was using intravenous administration SonoVue™ contrast agent (Bracco S.p.A., Milan, Italy). CIMT, ultrasound, Doppler,...

In several studies, intraplaque neovascularization (IPN) has been linked with plaque vulnerability. The recent development of contrast enhanced ultrasound enables IPN detection, but an accurate quantification is a big challenge due to noise, motion, subtle response, blooming and artifacts. We present algorithm that automatically estimates the location amount within over time. Plaque pixels are initially labeled through iterative expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm. used avoids drawbacks...

Mucormycosis is a rare, emerging angioinvasive infection caused by ubiquitous filamentous fungi. In recent decades, an increase in cutaneous or post-traumatic mucormycosis has been reported. We describe two cases of wound infections with Mucor circinelloides, mucor species only rarely reported as cause mucormycosis. Often considered lethal, management required combination medical and surgical therapies to achieve favorable outcome both cases.
