Abstract In this work, melt‐extruded guides for peripheral nerve repair were produced, based on blends between poly‐(ϵ‐caprolactone) and gelatin with a low amount (10 wt. %), the aim of combining good melt process ability synthetic polymer optimal biocompatibility natural polymer. one case, blend was produced previously crosslinked by transglutaminase, using solution mixing technique. The then obtaining guidance channels. another uncrosslinked first into tube‐shaped manufacts. Finally, poly‐...
An attempt has been made to understand the interaction between cellulase hydrolysis and mechanical agitation by separating them into two sequential steps. Cotton fabrics were treated with mixtures of different compositions, then washed in a process involving high level agitation. The cellulosic material removed during washing had amounts reducing ends depending on composition used initial treatment. fibre surface did not change significantly after treatment, but properties completely whether...
Cellulosic fabrics of various constructions and fiber compositions are treated with cellulases under pad-batch conditions. All exhibit commercially significant improvements in dimensional stability after subsequent washing drying cycles. The enzyme treatments optimized terms cellulase concentration, wet pick-up, cellu lase composition, batching time. Development samples specific EG-rich used at 1.0 to 5.0 mg per gram fabric give good results low shrinkage. weight strength losses well within...
This paper results from on-going reflection within the practitioners group Plataforma de Interface à Ciência (Platform of Professionals at Science), an informal nationwide network in Portugal that brings together professionals involved a large scope activities related to research management, knowledge transfer and science communication. Due wide functions profiles these professionals, they are not publicly nor institutionally recognised as part same professional group, which raises barriers...
Wool fibres are subject to a variety of industrial chemical treatments prior finishing processes. The influence such on subsequent enzymatic is still poorly characterised, but its importance paramount achieve maximal efficiency action the fibres. effect wool fibre structure and their significance accessibility enzymes transglutaminase tyrosinase target amino acids within proteins was investigated. These great interest due potential as protein cross‐linkers capability covalently graft...
