The association between sulphoxidation capacity and sodium aurothiomalate toxicity was investigated in 65 patients undergoing treatment for rheumatoid arthritis. Of those showing side-effects, 30/37 (81%) were also poor sulphoxidizers compared with only 9/;28 (32%) the group not displaying adverse reactions. A patient had a nine-fold greater risk of developing toxicity. prior measurement may help to identify most susceptible deleterious effects this drug.

Aspirin remains the mainstay of therapy rheu- matoid arthritis (RA), but many patients become intolerant therapeutically effective doses while a few anaemic from symptomless gastro- intestinal bleeding. The search continues for new agents as aspirin with fewer side-effects.Many non-hormonal anti-inflammatory are aryl esters and aryl-substituted phenols enols (Harrison, Lewis, Nelson, Rooks, Ros- kowski, Tomolonis, Fried, 1970).It is possible that some serious adverse reactions, such blood...

This study has shown that it is possible to measure vitamin D metabolites and binding protein (DBP) in synovial fluid as well serum. Significant amounts of 25-OHD, 24,25-(OH)2D, DBP are present fluid. The 25-OHD maintain a serum:synovial ratio approximately 2:1 irrespective the type joint disease, whereas no such relationship was detected for 24,25-(OH)2D. reasons these findings diffusion into or local production from suitable precursors, both.
