Enriched with fluoride: To expand on the available tools to interrogate proteases, we explored sulfonyl fluorides as activity-based probes. An alkyne-tagged fluoride covalently modifies members of S1 family serine proteases. By applying click chemistry, avidin enrichment and mass spectrometry, can enrich identify active endogenous proteases from a complex proteome.

Abstract Background Textbook outcomes are composite outcome measures that reflect the ideal overall experience for patients. There many of these in elective surgery literature but no textbook have been proposed patients following emergency laparotomy. The aim was to achieve international consensus amongst experts and best Outcomes non-trauma trauma Methods A modified Delphi exercise undertaken with three planned rounds regarding based on category, number importance (Likert scale 1–5)...

Introduction The utility of pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) for high-grade traumatic injuries remains unclear and data surrounding its use are limited. We hypothesized that PD does not result in improved outcomes when compared with non-PD surgical management grade IV–V pancreaticoduodenal injuries. Methods This is a retrospective, multicenter analysis from 35 level 1 trauma centers January 2010 to December 2020. Included patients were ≥15 years age the American Association Surgery Trauma...

Geriatric patients who fall are among the most common mechanisms of injury presenting to trauma centers. We sought quantify impact various comorbidities on length stay (LOS) in these identify areas for intervention. A level 1 center's registry was queried ≥65 years old with related injuries admitted LOS greater than 2 days. Over 7 years, 3714 were included. Mean age 80.9 ± 8.7 years. All fell from heights 6 feet or less. Median total 5 days, interquartile range [3,8]. Overall mortality rate...
