Sixty individuals including 17 competitive weight lifters (CWL), 12 long-distance runners (LDR), 7 amateus (noncompetitive) (AWL), 14 heavy controls (HC), and 10 light (LC) were studied at supine rest with echocardiographic determination of the left venticular mass (LVM) by Penn convention. Lean body (LBM) was estimated Wilmore-Behnke method. The absolute LVM (mean +/- SE) increased in two athlete groups compared to (LDR: 195 12; CWL: 190 vs. LC: 122 10; HC: 151 9 g). AWL had a (174 20 g)...

Abstract Administration of empiric antimicrobial therapy is standard practice in the management neutropenic fever, but there remains considerable debate about selection an optimal regimen. In view emerging evidence regarding efficacy and toxicity differences between treatment regimens, strong heterogeneity clinical practice, current guidelines were developed to provide Australian clinicians with comprehensive guidance for selecting appropriate strategy setting fever. Beta‐lactam monotherapy...

Sixty individuals including 17 competitive weight lifters (CWL), 12 long-distance runners (LDR), 7 amateur (noncompetitive) (AWL), 14 heavy controls (HC), and 10 light (LC) were studied at supine rest during static exercise 40% of maximal voluntary contraction. Blood pressures similar in all groups (R) (EX), but the heart rate (HR) calculated double product (DP) LDR lower (HR: 53 +/- 2.9 beats/min, DP: 6,346 402) fatigue 78 5.4 beats/min. 12,739 1,011) compared to control group (R-HR: 69 2.2...

Ependymomas are neoplasms which arise from the radial glial cells, many recent studies have proposed neural stem cells. Extracranial ependymomas rare. We present case report and supporting multimedia of a 37-year-old man who presented with painless intergluteal swelling was diagnosed clinically as pilonidal cyst. However, on excision, he found to subcutaneous sacrococcygeal myxopapillary ependymoma based histological findings. His management follow-up discussed. Given rare nature this...

e17507 Background: eviQ is an Australian, web-based point-of-care information resource which aims to improve cancer outcomes by supporting evidence-based practice. Over the last decade, has provided access more than 500 treatment protocols in Medical/Radiation Oncology, Haematology and Cancer Genetics. Each chemotherapy protocol a schedule, administering instructions, side effects, key evidence patient information. Protocols are developed consultation with oncology, haematology genetics...

e13518 Background: Anticancer drug dosing recommendations in kidney dysfunction are often empirical, based on non-standardised creatinine assays calculated via the Cockcroft-Gault equation, and lack applicability to globally accepted classifications. ADDIKD aims provide a standardised approach assessing function cancer patients, apply evidence consensus-based anticancer dysfunction. Methods: An expert international multidisciplinary working group was established develop recommendations. The...

Abstract Background Evidence supporting dose modifications to reduce serious treatment‐related adverse events of antineoplastic therapy is limited and frequently based on clinical trial protocols, which are not always generalisable community patients. eviQ an online resource with treatment protocols recommendations for modification formulated by expert opinion evidence‐based review. Original recommended haematological thresholds delay were: neutrophil count <1.5 × 10 9 /L platelet <100...

Endoleaks are a frequent indication for reintervention after endovascular repair of an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Here we present method open persistent type II endoleak involving graft component separation and reconstruction, in patient with symptomatic interval aneurysmal sac enlargement despite coiling embolization. This case report demonstrates alternative technique endograft reconstruction that may be required cases where exploration vessel oversewing is hindered by the position.

Background: Patency rates for arteriovenous fistulae (AVF) range between 40-50% at 4 years with neointimal hyperplasia of the venous limb being a significant determining factor. The wall shear stress (WSS) is potent stimulus hyperplasia. Methods: We analysed WSS using both in vitro & ex vivo models. In-vitro experiments: 10 idealized waveforms were created ranging peak magnitude 0.5 to 2.5 Pa, t-WSSG from 2 20 Pa/s and 0 oscillatory index (OSI) value. Evaluation protein gene expression was...
