Chitin and its deacetylated derivative, chitosan, are natural polymers that have been proposed to be used in a wide range of applications. Due their origin, both chitin chitosan cannot defined as unique chemical structure but family which present high variability physical properties. This is related not only the origin samples also method preparation. this variability, success polymer on each application depends properties polymer. In previous review, we highlighted relationship between...
The methods to obtain chitooligosaccharides are tightly related the physicochemical properties of end products. Knowledge these characteristics is crucial describing biological functions chitooligosaccharides. Chitooligosaccharides were prepared either in a single-step enzymatic hydrolysis using chitosanase, or two-step chemical-enzymatic hydrolysis. hydrolyzed products obtained preparation composed mainly 42% fully deacetylated oligomers plus 54% monoacetylated oligomers, and they...
Map3k8 (Cot/Tpl2) activates the MKK1/2-ERK1/2, MAPK pathway downstream from interleukin-1R, tumor necrosis factor-αR, NOD-2R (nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like 2R), adiponectinR, and Toll-like receptors. plays a key role in innate adaptive immunity influences inflammatory processes by modulating functions of different cell types. However, its atherogenesis remains unknown. In this study, we analyzed kinase pathology. We show here that deficiency results smaller numbers...
The modulation of the host’s metabolism to protect tissue from damage induces tolerance infections increasing survival. Here, we examined role thyroid hormones, key metabolic regulators, in outcome malaria. Hypothyroidism confers protection experimental cerebral malaria by a disease mechanism. Hypothyroid mice display increased survival after infection with Plasmodium berghei ANKA, diminishing intracranial pressure and brain damage, without altering pathogen burden, blood-brain barrier...
Twelve naphthazarin derivatives were reduced electrochemically giving rise to the corresponding semiquinone anion radicals. Their e.s.r. spectra recorded in situ and their hyperfine coupling constants g factor evaluated. For this purpose, SCF INDO MO calculations performed order obtain an approximate value of different constants. The structure these radicals was also deduced from calculations, showing a strong linear O–H–O hydrogen bond, free rotation methyl group, absence interactions methoxy-group.
Abstract Map3k8 has been proposed as a useful target for the treatment of inflammatory diseases. We show here that during lipopolysaccharide-induced emergency granulopoiesis, deficiency strongly impairs increase in circulating mature (Ly6G high CD11b + ) and immature low neutrophils. After chimaeric bone marrow (BM) transplantation into recipient −/− mice, lipopolysaccharide did not Ly6G cells decreased cells. Lipopolysaccharide-treated mice showed production granulocyte colony-stimulating...
Hypothyroidism is often associated with anemia and immunological disorders. Similar defects are found in patients mice a mutated dominant-negative thyroid hormone receptor α (TRα) knockout devoid of this receptor, suggesting that isoform responsible for the effects hormones hematopoiesis. However, hematological phenotype lacking also TRβ has not yet been examined. We show here TRα1/TRβ -knockout female mice, all known receptors capacity to bind hormones, do have overt contrast hypothyroid...
Abstract Bone marrow erythropoiesis is mainly homeostatic and a demand of oxygen in tissues activates stress the spleen . Here, we show an increase number circulating erythrocytes apolipoprotein E −/− mice fed Western high-fat diet, with similar leukocytes CD41 + events (platelets). Atherogenic conditions no variations this cell lineage bone marrow. Spleens from atherogenic augmented late-stage erythroblasts biased differentiation progenitor cells towards erythroid lineage, CD71 CD41CD34 −...
A mechanism for glucose degradation in alkaline media has been proposed based upon ESR spectroscopy studies. This degradative process carried out with aqueous Bu4NOH dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) at room temperature. Several radicals semidione-like structures are generated during this process, the presence of an α-hydroxycarbonyl group molecule being a crucial requisite formation such radicals. Cleavage C(3)–C(4) bond, due to base catalysed retroaldolization is first step degradation. The...
