In locally advanced pancreatic body cancers, cancer infiltrates major vessels such as the celiac axis, common hepatic artery and superior mesenteric or vein, which is borderline of resectability. Patients also suffer severe abdominal pain. Kondo Hirano et al. developed a radical operation called "distal pancreatectomy with en bloc resection (DP-CAR)" for cases. We applied this procedure three times in two patients carcinomas, combined vascular was necessary. Radical eventually achieved.
Spontaneous regression of hepatocellular carcinoma is a rare phenomenon. Abscopal tumours resulting from the effect irradiation tissue on remote non-irradiated also rare. The case 76 year old Japanese man with that regressed after radiotherapy for thoracic vertebral bone metastasis described. Serum levels tumour necrosis factor-α increased radiotherapy. findings suggests such abscopal related may be associated host immune response, involving cytokines as factor-α.
Background— The purpose of this study was to evaluate the growth rate type B double-barrel aortic dissection with computed tomography (CT) and factors influencing its enlargement. Methods Results— Sixty-two patients were entered into study, regular follow-up CT studies (mean; 49.1 months) performed. affected aortas iliac arteries divided 5 segments (aortic arch, descending thoracic, suprarenal abdominal, infrarenal abdominal aorta, artery). Fifty-two 62 (83.9%) had 1 or more increased in...
Penetrating atherosclerotic ulcer is an ulcerating lesion that penetrates the elastic lamina and associated with hematoma formation within media of aortic wall. This pathologic condition distinct from classic dissection rupture; however, care should be taken in making diagnosis, particularly if disease discovered incidentally. At computed tomography (CT), penetrating manifests as focal involvement adjacent subintimal often wall thickening or enhancement. Magnetic resonance imaging superior...
Transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) is widely used in the treatment of hepatic tumors. A total 2,300 TAE procedures were performed with a 2-15-mL injection mixture or suspension anticancer drugs and iodized oil, followed by administration gelatin sponge particles. One two chemotherapeutic drugs, including doxorubicin hydrochloride (10-30 mg), epirubicin mitomycin C (10-20 cisplatin (25-100 for each procedure. Complications encountered 4.4% cases (n = 102) related to use chemoembolic...
Diagnosis of Takayasu arteritis is difficult because the clinical features are similar to those other diseases. In early-phase arteritis, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging show thickening aortic wall. Late-phase has been classified into four types: classic pulseless disease (type I), a mixed type II), atypical coarctation III), dilated IV). late-phase angiography usually demonstrates luminal changes such as stenosis, occlusion, or aneurysmal dilatation aorta...
To investigate the natural history and predictors of progression a newly developed ulcerlike projection in patients with an aortic intramural hematoma.Serial computed tomographic (CT) findings 52 hematoma were reviewed. Sixteen had Stanford type A hematoma, 36 B. Diagnosis was established CT. Regular follow-up studies performed every week during 1st month two or three times year after 2nd month. The presence absence projection, diameter evaluated. Relationships among projections, clinical...
A combination of x-ray-diffraction measurements, using a diamond-anvil cell, and electrical-resistance employing an octahedral-anvil press, has been used to elucidate the behavior GeSe GeTe at high pressure. In GeSe, x-ray data show that array six-membered rings in chair conformation along $a$ direction is most compressible. The electrical resistivity decreases with increasing pressure exhibits order magnitude drop about 25 GPa. transforms from rhombohedral NaCl-type structure 3 GPa and, 18...
Our goal was to investigate the fate of intramural hematoma aorta. In 32 patients with aorta, we reviewed CT (n = 32) and MR 22) findings. The diagnosis established by CT, regular follow-up studies were performed. All hematomas decreased in size. Ulcer-like projections (ULPs) identified at initial study 6 during period 14 patients. ULPs progressed saccular aneurysm 12 (mean 47.0 days), while fusiform developed 347.7 days) without ULP. In two patients, affected aorta overt aortic...
PURPOSE: To determine the clinical feasibility of three-dimensional dynamic contrast agent–enhanced subtraction magnetic resonance (MR) angiography in patients with symptoms lower extremity ischemia. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Twenty-three suspected having ischemia underwent contrast-enhanced MR aortoiliac arteries and extremity. As reference standard, conventional was also performed. For data analysis, arterial system divided into 10 segments. Each segment classified as normal, mildly stenosed,...
The purpose of our study was to discuss the incidence, predisposing factors, and clinical course intrahepatic biloma after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization for hepatic tumors including hepatocellular carcinoma metastatic liver tumor.Nine hundred seventy-two patients with (n = 920) or tumor 52) underwent during a 12-year period beginning in January 1989. We retrospectively reviewed medical records follow-up radiographs analyzed risk factors associated development biloma.Intrahepatic...
ABSTRACT Background Patients are prone to bradyarrhythmias after Fontan surgery due anatomical reasons and the surgery, whereas a transvenous approach cardiac chamber is difficult in patients total cavopulmonary artery connection (TCPC) with an extracardiac conduit. Methods Results We report case of implantation atrial lead into roof via pulmonary successful upgrade dual pacing using existing epicardial ventricular lead. Conclusion A toward may be possible option TCPC. If successful,...
Neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) are often associated with congenital heart diseases (CHDs). Congenital portosystemic shunt (CPSS) is a rare abnormality of the portal system in which toxic substances that not adequately metabolized by liver circulate throughout body and can cause non-specific neuropsychiatric symptoms. We describe case CHD NDD symptoms due to extrahepatic CPSS became evident adulthood. A 24-year-old man underwent thorough examination for dysfunction. He had history...
summary The aim of this study was to compare the multidimensional properties among subtypes painful temporomandibular disorders (TMD): myofascial pain (group I), disc displacement II), arthralgia IIIa) and osteoarthritis IIIb). A total 511 patients answered a battery questionnaires, which included questions relating intensity duration pain, Japanese version McGill Pain Questionnaire, limitation daily functions, Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale, Eysenck Personality Questionnaire short‐form...
