Mutations in the caspase recruitment domain, family member 14 (CARD14) gene have recently been described psoriasis patients, and explain susceptibility locus 2 (PSORS2). CARD14 is a scaffolding protein that regulates NF-κB activation, psoriasis-associated mutations lead to enhanced signaling. expressed mainly epidermal keratinocytes, but also unidentified dermal cells. In this manuscript, identity of cell types expressing CARD14, as well potential functional consequence overactive these...
To understand the development of new psoriasis lesions, we studied a group moderate-to-severe patients who experienced relapse after ceasing efalizumab (anti-CD11a, Raptiva, Genentech). There were increased CD3(+) T cells, neutrophils, CD11c(+) and CD83(+) myeloid dendritic cells (DCs), but no increase in CD1c(+) resident DCs. In relapsed there many CD11c(+)CD1c(-), inflammatory DCs identified by TNFSF10/TRAIL, TNF, iNOS. lesions co-expressed CD14 CD16 situ. Efalizumab induced an improvement...
Physician rating of cutaneous erythema is central to clinical dermatological assessment as well quantification outcome measures in trials a number dermatologic conditions. However, issues with inter-rater reliability and variability the setting higher Fitzpatrick skin types make visual unreliable. We developed validated computer-assisted image-processing algorithm (EQscore) reliably quantify (across range types) dermatology setting. Our image processing evaluated based upon green light...
