The MiniBooNE experiment at Fermilab reports results from an analysis of $\bar \nu_e$ appearance data $11.27 \times 10^{20}$ protons on target in antineutrino mode, increase approximately a factor two over the previously reported results. An event excess $78.4 \pm 28.5$ events ($2.8 \sigma$) is observed energy range $200<E_\nu^{QE}<1250$ MeV. If interpreted two-neutrino oscillation model, $\bar{\nu}_{\mu}\rightarrow\bar{\nu}_e$, best fit to has probability 66% while background-only...
Two new independent mass relations are derived and shown to be consistent with several existing nuclear models. The most general functional dependence on proton number, neutron number (or isospin value) of masses which satisfy these exactly is discussed, a procedure for determining the values functions give best least-squares fit body known developed. over-all listed together resulting theoretical table shows discrepancies proton, neutron, alpha-particle decay energies.
We find that firms protected by “second generation” state antitakeover laws substantially reduce their use of debt, and unprotected do the reverse. This result supports recent models in which threat hostile takeover motivates managers to take on debt they would otherwise avoid. An implication is legal barriers takeovers may increase corporate slack.
The MiniBooNE experiment at Fermilab reports results from a search for ${\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\mu}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{e}$ oscillations, using data sample corresponding to $5.66\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{20}$ protons on target. Measurements of the ratio Drell-Yan yields from an 800 \rm{GeV/c} proton beam incident on liquid hydrogen and deuterium targets are reported. Approximately 360,000 muon pairs remained after all cuts data. From these data, anti-down ($\bar{d}$) to anti-up ($\bar{u}$) quark distributions in sea is determined over a wide range Bjorken-$x$. These results confirm previous measurements by E866 extend them lower $x$. $(\bar{d}-\bar{u})$ $\int(\bar{d}-\bar{u})dx$ evaluated for $0.015<x<0.35$....
A precise measurement of the atomic-mass dependence dimuon production induced by 800-GeV protons is reported. Over 450 000 muon pairs with mass M\ensuremath{\ge}4 GeV were recorded from targets $^{2}\mathrm{H}$, C, Ca, Fe, and W. The ratio yield per nucleon for nuclei versus R=${\mathit{Y}}_{\mathit{A}}$/${\mathit{Y}}_{2\mathit{H}}$, sensitive to modifications antiquark sea in nuclei. No nuclear this observed over range target-quark momentum fraction 0.1${\mathit{x}}_{\mathit{t}}$0.3. For...
We examine uncertainties in the analysis of reactor neutrino anomaly, wherein it is suggested that only about 94% emitted antineutrino flux was detected short baseline experiments. find form corrections lead to anomaly are very uncertain for 30% arises from forbidden decays. This uncertainty estimated four ways, as large size and unlikely be reduced without accurate direct measurements flux. Given present lack detailed knowledge structure transitions, not possible convert measured aggregate...

Recent advances in incentive theory stress the multidimensional nature of agent effort and specifically cases where workers affect one anothers' performance through "helping" efforts. This article models helping efforts as determined by compensation package task allocation. The model is tested with Australian evidence on reported within work groups. consistently supports hypothesis that are reduced, while individual increased, when promotion incentives strong. Piece rates profit‐sharing...
ABSTRACT Little evidence exists that firms index executive compensation to remove the influence of marketwide factors. We argue executives can, in principle, replicate such indexation their private portfolios. In support, we find market risk has little effect on use stock‐based pay for average executive. But executives' ability “undo” excessive can be hindered by wealth constraints and inalienability human capital. standard result there is relative performance evaluation (RPE) executive, but...
A precise measurement of the ratio Drell-Yan yields from an 800GeV/c proton beam incident on hydrogen and deuterium targets is reported. Over 140 000 muon pairs with dimuon mass Mμ+μ−≥4.5GeV/c2 were recorded. From these data, antidown ( d¯) to antiup u¯) quark distributions in sea determined over a wide range Bjorken x. strong x dependence observed d¯/u¯, showing substantial enhancement d¯ respect u¯ for x<0.2. This result fair agreement recent parton distribution parametrizations sea. For...
The cross section for the elastic scattering reaction ${\ensuremath{\nu}}_{e}{+e}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{e}{+e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ was measured by Liquid Scintillator Neutrino Detector using a ${\ensuremath{\mu}}^{+}$ decay-at-rest ${\ensuremath{\nu}}_{e}$ beam at Los Alamos Neutron Science Center. standard model of electroweak physics predicts large destructive interference between charge current and neutral channels this reaction. section,...
Measurements of the suppression yield per nucleon J/psi and psi(') production for 800 GeV/ c protons incident on heavy nuclear targets, relative to light have been made with very broad coverage in x(F) p(T). The observed is smallest at values 0.25 below, increases larger x(F). It also strongest small Substantial differences between are first time p-A collisions. stronger than that near zero, but becomes comparable x(F)>0.6.
The yield of J/\ensuremath{\psi} and \ensuremath{\psi}' vector-meson states has been measured for 800-GeV protons incident on deuterium, carbon, calcium, iron, tungsten targets. A depletion the per nucleon from heavy nuclei is observed both production. This exhibits a strong dependence ${\mathit{x}}_{\mathit{F}}$ ${\mathit{p}}_{\mathit{t}}$. Within experimental errors same \ensuremath{\psi}'.

The observation of neutrino oscillations is clear evidence for physics beyond the standard model. To make precise measurements this phenomenon, oscillation experiments, including MiniBooNE, require an accurate description charged current quasielastic (CCQE) cross sections to predict signal samples. Using a high-statistics sample νμ CCQE events, MiniBooNE finds that simple Fermi gas model, with appropriate adjustments, accurately characterizes events observed in carbon-based detector....
The largest sample ever recorded of ${\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\mu}}$ charged-current quasielastic (CCQE, ${\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\mu}}+p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{+}+n$) candidate events is used to produce the minimally model-dependent, flux-integrated double-differential cross section $\frac{{d}^{2}\ensuremath{\sigma}}{d{T}_{\ensuremath{\mu}}d\mathrm{cos}{\ensuremath{\theta}}_{\ensuremath{\mu}}}$ for CCQE a mineral oil target. This...
We report a measurement of the flux-averaged neutral-current elastic differential cross section for neutrinos scattering on mineral oil (${\mathrm{CH}}_{2}$) as function four-momentum transferred squared, ${Q}^{2}$. It is obtained by measuring kinematics recoiling nucleons with kinetic energy greater than 50 MeV which are readily detected in MiniBooNE. This cross-section distribution fit fixed nucleon form factors apart from an axial mass ${M}_{A}$ that provides best...
