Acute portomesenteric vein thrombosis is potentially lethal. In the present paper, a cirrhotic patient with previous history of esophageal variceal bleeding presented acute occlusive thrombosis, but achieved complete recanalization by low-molecular-weight heparin followed rivaroxaban.
