BackgroundSurveillance is universally recommended for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients treated with curative-intent radiotherapy. High-quality evidence to inform optimal surveillance strategies lacking. Machine learning demonstrates promise in accurate outcome prediction a variety of health conditions. The purpose this study was utilise readily available patient, tumour, and treatment data develop, validate externally test machine models predicting recurrence, recurrence-free...

Abstract Poor access to human left ventricular myocardium is a significant limitation in the study of heart failure (HF). Here, we utilise carefully procured large biobank cryopreserved obtain direct molecular insights into ischaemic cardiomyopathy (ICM) and dilated (DCM), most common causes HF worldwide. We perform unbiased, deep proteomic metabolomic analyses 51 (LV) samples from 44 ICM DCM hearts, compared age-, gender-, BMI-matched, histopathologically normal, donor controls. report...

The addition of carbogen and nicotinamide (CON) to radiotherapy (RT) improves overall survival in invasive bladder cancer. We explored whether expression the hypoxia marker hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) alone or combination with other markers predicted benefit from CON.A retrospective study was carried out using material patients high-grade carcinoma enrolled BCON phase III trial RT CON (RT+CON). HIF-1α studied 137 tumours tissue microarrays immunohistochemistry. Data were available...

BackgroundPneumonitis is a well-described, potentially disabling, or fatal adverse effect associated with both immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) and thoracic radiotherapy. Accurate differentiation between inhibitor pneumonitis (CIP) radiation (RP), infective (IP) crucial for swift, appropriate, tailored management to achieve optimal patient outcomes. However, correct diagnosis often challenging, owing overlapping clinical presentations radiological patterns.MethodsIn this multi-centre study...

Recurrence occurs in up to 36% of patients treated with curative-intent radiotherapy for NSCLC. Identifying at higher risk recurrence more intensive surveillance may facilitate the earlier introduction next line treatment. We aimed use planning CT scans develop radiomic classification models that predict overall survival (OS), recurrence-free (RFS) and two years post-treatment risk-stratification. A retrospective multi-centre study >900 receiving stage I-III NSCLC was undertaken. Models...

Hurler's syndrome, also known as mucopolysaccharidosis I (MPS I-H), is a rare condition inherited an autosomal recessive trait. It caused by deficiency in alpha-L-iduronidase, enzyme that participates the degradation of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) heparin sulphate and dermatan sulphate. Children with syndrome appear nearly normal at birth but, left untreated, show progressive mental physical deterioration build-up GAGs all organs body. Death often cardiac or respiratory failure usually occurs...

Pneumonitis is a well-described, potentially life-threatening adverse effect of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) and thoracic radiotherapy. It can require additional investigations, treatment, interruption cancer therapy. important for clinicians to have an awareness its incidence severity, however real-world data are lacking do not always correlate with findings from clinical trials. Similarly, there dearth information on cost impact symptomatic pneumonitis. Informatics approaches...

Importance: The stratification of indeterminate lung nodules is a growing problem, but the burden on healthcare services not well-described. Manual service evaluation and research cohort curation can be time-consuming potentially improved by automation. Objective: To automate nodule identification in tertiary cancer centre. Methods: This retrospective study used Electronic Healthcare Records to identify CT reports generated between 31st October 2011 24th July 2020. A structured query...

A 74-year-old man presented with back pain and collapse. ruptured infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm was successfully managed by endovascular repair. Postoperatively, he developed gastric outlet obstruction owing to duodenal compression from the unevacuated retroperitoneal haematoma. In absence of compartment syndrome, conservative management decompression parenteral nutrition led a full recovery.

Introduction
New lung nodules observed after prior radical cancer treatment present a complex and increasingly common problem for MDTs. Existing research shows is with previous smoking-related cancers, potentially due to shared risk factors or long-term effects of anti-cancer therapies. Radiomics involves computational high-throughput extraction mathematical features from medical images. Study AI machine learning approaches using radiomics data aims improve nodule...
