Abstract Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is routinely used for preoperative tumor staging and to assess response therapy in rectal cancer patients. The aim of our study was evaluate the accuracy MRI based restaging after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (CRT) predicting pathologic response. This multicenter cohort included adult patients with histologically confirmed locally advanced adenocarcinoma treated CRT followed by curative intent elective surgery between January 2014 December 2019 at...

Post-oncologic surgical reconstruction of lower limbs in pediatrics remains a challenging topic. Microsurgical techniques allow reconstructions large bony defects. The use vascularized fibular flap with allograft has proven to be an ideal biologic construct. We aim assess the success rate this operation, including survival, union, weight-bearing ambulation, and complications long-term follow-up our case series compared literature.

Psoriasis vulgaris incidence in Italy is 2%–3%, 0.1% with severe forms systemic erythema, risk of skin cancer, and hypercoagulation disorders. These patients are a challenging cohort for free-tissue transfer reconstructions. We present 47-year-old woman history generalized uncontrolled pustular psoriasis an infiltrative squamocellular carcinoma the forearm 5 cm × 3 cm. offered reconstructive approach vascularized fibular intercalary reconstruction ulna combined anterolateral thigh flap...

Free-functioning muscle transfer is done to replace lost and tendon-unit function through microvascular anastomosis in the recipient area. Neural coaptation of transferred muscle’s motor nerve provides ability contract, giving functionality transfer. It a complex surgical technique with limited indications prolonged patient recovery. Free functional represents last chance after conservative approaches have been exhausted deficiencies persist trauma, oncologic resection, congenital defect or...

Abstract Total talar extrusion is a rare complication of high‐energy traumas. A consequence this injury can be avascular necrosis (AVN) the talus. Patients are confronted with pain, limited range motion and post‐traumatic arthritis. As AVN progresses talus gradually destroyed. This report presents use chimeric medial femoral condyle chondro‐osseus flap two thin periosteal flaps to increase vascular supply traumatized area, accelerate bone formation, integration, restore articular surfaces in...

Background: In SSc, ILD is a major cause of morbidity and mortality. High resolution computed tomography (HRCT) the gold standard for diagnosis. Predictors onset are eagerly awaited to improve SSc-ILD management. Pulmonary function test (PFTs) routinely performed measure lung changes. Objectives: Our aim was investigate performance DLCO (diffusing capacity carbon monoxide) FVC (forced vital capacity) in predicting development SSc-ILD. Methods: The longitudinal data DLCO, on HRCT SSc patients...
