Phosphatase and tensin homologue deleted on chromosome ten (PTEN) is part of a complex signaling system that affects variety important cell functions. PTEN blocks the action PI3K by dephosphorylating lipid phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-triphosphate. We have used mouse model for asthma to determine effect inhibitors allergen-induced bronchial inflammation airway hyperresponsiveness. activity increased significantly after allergen challenge. protein expression were decreased in OVA-induced...

We treated 19 patients with Rasmussen9s syndrome (chronic encephalitis and epilepsy)–a rare progressive disorder of unknown etiology causing focal epilepsy, hemiparesis, intellectual deterioration–with intravenous immunoglobulins, high-dose steroids, or both, to control seizures improve the end point disease. Ten 17 receiving eight nine had some reduction seizure frequency in short term. Improvement hemiparesis was slight. The effect these drugs ameliorating disease long term remains...

Abstract This project involved the synthesis of N -hexanoyl chitosan or simply modified (MC) stabilized iron oxide nanoparticles (MC-IOPs) and biological evaluation MC-IOPs. IOPs containing MC were prepared using conventional methods, extent cell uptake was evaluated mouse macrophages line (RAW cells). MC-IOPs found to rapidly associate with RAW cells, saturation typically reached within 24 h incubation at 37°C. Nearly 8.53 ± 0.31 pg iron/cell bound internalized saturation. From these...

The ligand-activated nuclear receptor peroxisome proliferator-activated gamma (PPARgamma) has been shown to regulate cell activation, differentiation, proliferation, and/or apoptosis. PPARgamma is also associated with anti-inflammatory responses. However, the signaling mechanism remains elusive. We have used a mouse model for asthma determine effect of agonists, rosiglitazone or pioglitazone, and on allergen-induced bronchial inflammation airway hyperresponsiveness. Administration agonists...

Abstract Microstructure and architecture of the scaffolds along with surface chemistry exert profound effect on biological activity (cell distribution, proliferation, differentiation). For activity, in tissue engineering have been widely designed. The objective this study was to develop hydrophilic nanofibrous structure polylactides (PLLA) polymer form nonwoven mat by electrospinning technique, further evaluate fibroblast NIH3T3 cell morphology, cell–matrix interaction. Hydrophilicity PLLA...

Abstract Porous metals are attractive due to its unique physical, mechanical, and new bone tissue ingrowth properties. In the present study, production of highly porous Ti‐6Al‐4V parts by powder metallurgical technology subsequently it's uses in vitro engineering is described. A space‐holder method using carbamide with different particle size produce porosities between 35 70% were applied. The compressive strength Young's modulus determined. Results indicated that stress decrease increasing...

In this study the protective effects of davallialactone (1), isolated from Inonotus xeranticus, have been examined against carbon tetrachloride (CCl₄-induced acute liver injury. Mice received subcutaneous injection 1 (2.5, 5, and 10 mg/kg) for three days before CCl₄ (1 mg/kg). Protection injury by was confirmed observation decreased serum transaminases diminished necrosis tissue. Reduced hepatic very similar to that observed with silymarin, a known hepatoprotective drug used in work...

Reported herein is an unusual case of carcinosarcoma the colon. A 13-year-old girl was transferred to Chonbuk National University Hospital, Korea with a known pelvic mass. CT and magnetic resonance imaging confirmed large sarcoma diagnosed following colonoscopic biopsy. An ultra-low anterior resection lymph node dissection performed. The tumor consisted well-differentiated adenocarcinoma showing strong immunoreactivity epithelial markers (pancytokeratin, cytokeratin 7, 19, 20, membrane...

PTEN/MMAC1 is a tumor suppressor gene that mutated in variety of advanced and metastatic cancers. Its major function likely to be the phosphatase activity regulates phosphotidylinositol (PI)3-kinase/ Akt pathway. On other hand, IGF system plays an important role cell proliferation survival via PI3-kinase/Akt mitogen-activated protein kinase pathways many cancer cells. To evaluate effect PTEN on growth gastric cancer, human adenocarcinoma cells (SNU-5 & -216) were transfected with cDNA. Those...

He also had epidermal nevus the sacral area. Colonoscopy showed erythematous, multilobulated, circumferential, polypoid lesions with mucoid discharge from rectum. was diagnosed cap by endoscopy histologic examination. treated surgical resection, closely followed up. Ghrelin is a novel gut-brain peptide that has somatotropic, orexigenic, and adipogenic effects. We examined the preproghrelin Leu72Met polymorphism in 222 obese Korean children to determine whether it associated with obesity. The frequencies of were 29.3% obese, 32.3% overweight, 32.5% lean children. No significant difference was found between Met72 carrier non-carrier respect BMI, total body fat, serum triglycerides, cholesterol, or LDL-cholesterol levels. Our data suggest not obesity
