Chronic itch is a common and distressing symptom that arises from variety of skin conditions systemic diseases. Despite this, there no clinically based classification pruritic diseases to assist in the diagnosis cost-effective medical care patients with pruritus. The proposed focuses on clinical signs distinguishes between without primary or secondary lesions. Three groups are proposed: pruritus diseased (inflamed) (group I), non-diseased (non-inflamed) II), presenting severe chronic scratch...

Pruritus is a frequent symptom in medicine. Population-based studies show that every 5th person the general population has suffered from chronic pruritus at least once lifetime with 12-month incidence of 7%. In patient populations its frequency much higher depending on underlying cause, ranging around 25% haemodialysis patients to 100% skin diseases such as urticaria and atopic dermatitis (AD). may be result dermatological or non-dermatological disease. Especially non-diseased it caused by...

Abstract Background The term prurigo has been used for many decades in dermatology without clear definition, and currently terminology of is inconsistent confusing. Especially, itch‐related remains unexplored regarding the epidemiology, clinical profile, natural course, underlying causes, available treatments economic burden, although burdensome difficult to treat. Objective To address these issues, multicentre European Prurigo Project (EPP) was designed increase knowledge on chronic (CPG)....

Sensitive skin is a frequent complaint in the general population, patients, and among subjects suffering from itch. The International Forum for Study of Itch (IFSI) decided to initiate special interest group (SIG) on sensitive skin. Using Delphi method, was defined as "A syndrome by occurrence unpleasant sensations (stinging, burning, pain, pruritus, tingling sensations) response stimuli that normally should not provoke such sensations. These cannot be explained lesions attributable any...

The content and distribution of substance P (SP), somatostatin, vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), calcitonin gene-related (CGRP) neuropeptide Y (NPY) in human skin were investigated. Radioimmunoassay was performed on pooled tissue samples from several regions (fingers, toes, axillas thighs) fluid spontaneous blisters inflamed skin. Immunocytochemical localization showed all peptides examined except somatostatin to be present nerve fibers. Nerve fibers storing SP CGRP, which found coexist,...

Chronic prurigo (CPG) is a highly burdensome pruritic disease characterized by chronic itch, prolonged scratching behavior and the development of localized or generalized hyperkeratotic pruriginous lesions. Neuronal sensitization an itch-scratch cycle contribute to augmentation pruritus chronicity disease. We provide here first international guideline for rational diagnostic therapeutic approach CPG. Recommendations are based on available evidence expert opinion. The diagnosis CPG made...

Abstract Background Chronic nodular prurigo (CNPG) is a condition characterized by chronic itch, prolonged scratching behaviour and the presence of pruriginous nodules. A comprehensive understanding this condition, especially regarding its clinical characteristics impact on quality life still lacking. Objectives Aim pan‐European multicentre cross‐sectional study was to establish profile CNPG, including associated burden. Methods Fifteen centres from 12 European countries recruited CNPG...
