본 연구는 삶의 질에 영향을 미치는 변수들 가운데 기존에 유의미했던 선행변수 중 여행능력과 여행태도를 여행역량으로 개념화하여 여행역량이 파악하고자 시도하였다. 또한 여행역량과 질의 관계에 있어 긍정심리자본의 매개효과에 대해 검증해보고자 하였다. 연구를 위해 국내ㆍ외 1박 이상 숙박을 한 여행경험이 2회 있는 사람들 400명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고 이 361부의 설문지에 구조방정식을 통해 연구 모델을 검증하였다. 연구결과에 따르면 유의미하게 미쳤고, 매개효과도 확인할 수 있었다. 여행역량이라는 새로운 개념이 끼칠 유의미한 개념임을 확인해볼 있었고 하루빨리 감염의 피해를 최소화하면서 안전하게 여행을 즐기는 방안이 속히 마련되어야할 것을 제안하는 바이다
