Background: With 11 million sepsis-related deaths worldwide, the development of tools for early prediction sepsis onset in hospitalized patients is a global health priority. We developed machine learning algorithm, capable detecting all hospital departments. Methods: Predictors from 45,127 departments Valenciennes Hospital (France) were retrospectively collected training. The binary classifier SEPSI Score was constructed using gradient boosted trees approach, and assessed on study dataset...

Objectives. To identify the current practices with long half-life lipoglycopeptides (LGPs) and potential use/position of oritavancin. Results. Despite their indication being limited to skin soft tissue infections (SSTIs), are mainly used off-label treat bone joint (BJIs) infective endocarditis. Oritavancin dalbavancin both semisynthetic lipoglycopeptide antibiotics activity against Gram-positive organisms. The game-changing property these two is one-time dosing. Due its shorter half-life,...

Abstract We report the first case of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase producing E. coli community-acquired meningitis complicated with multiple aortic mycotic aneurysms. Because acute aneurysm expansion possible impending rupture on 2 abdominal CT scan, patient underwent prompt vascular surgery and broad spectrum antibiotic therapy but he died a hemorrhagic shock. Extended-spectrum was identified from both blood cerebrospinal fluid culture before treatment. The present does not however...

In treatment of prosthetic vascular graft infection (PVGI), appropriate antimicrobial is crucial for controlling the septic process and preventing re-infection new graft. Glycopeptides are mainstay device-related infections by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus strains, but with some limitations, especially concerning vancomycin-intermediate glycopeptide-intermediate S. aureus. We report our experience using a high dose daptomycin (DAP) PVGI. reviewed medical reports 26 patients...

Lymph node tuberculosis (LNTB) is the most frequent form of extra-pulmonary (TB). Randomised, controlled trials have convincingly demonstrated that 6 months chemotherapy sufficient for drug-susceptible LNTB. We performed a retrospective, multicentric study from 1997 to 2010 describe factors associated with prolonged anti-tuberculosis treatment in patients Of 126 diagnosed LNTB, 22 (17.5%) were human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infected. The median duration was 9 (interquartile range, 6-12)....
