Rose-comb, a classical monogenic trait of chickens, is characterized by drastically altered comb morphology compared to the single-combed wild-type. Here we show that Rose-comb caused 7.4 Mb inversion on chromosome 7 and second allele arose unequal crossing over between wild-type chromosome. The phenotype relocalization MNR2 homeodomain protein gene leading transient ectopic expression during development. We also provide molecular explanation for first example epistatic interaction reported...

Investigating the genetic markers and genomic signatures related to chicken meat production by combing multi-omics methods could provide new insights into modern breeding technology systems. Chicken is one of most efficient environmentally friendly livestock, especially fast-growing white-feathered (broiler), which well known for high yield, but underlying basis poorly understood. We generated whole-genome resequencing three purebred broilers (n = 748) six local breeds/lines 114), sequencing...

Transcripts and protein for follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) were demonstrated in abdominal adipose tissue of female chickens. There was no expression the Fsh gene, but FSH FSHR colocalized, suggesting that bound. Partial correlations indicted changes fat (AF) content most directly correlated with Fshr mRNA expression, latter content. These relationships consistent inducing finding influenced accumulation AF chickens, a novel role hormone. Chicken preadipocytes responded linearly...

Significance Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) displays a strong hereditary component that is, in part, due to the additive effects of numerous low-penetrance genes or variants, but virtually no mechanistic information is available. Here, we studied well-known variant (SNP rs965513) located region devoid coding genes. We show at least four variants immediate vicinity rs965513 reside enhancer elements bind promoter shared by two adjacent thyroid-related genes, forkhead box E1 ( FOXE1 ) and...

Toll-like receptors (TLRs) signaling pathways are the first lines in defense against Salmonella enteritidis (S. enteritidis) infection but molecular mechanism underlying susceptibility to S. chicken remains unclear. SPF chickens injected with were partitioned into two groups, one consisted of those from Salmonella-susceptible (died within 5 d after injection, n = 6), other six Salmonella-resistant that survived for 15 injection. The present study shows bacterial load susceptible was...

Improving the feed efficiency would increase profitability for producers while also reducing environmental footprint of livestock production. This study was conducted to investigate relationships among traits and metabolizable in 180 male broilers. Significant loci genes affecting were explored with an imputation-based genome-wide association study. The measured or calculated comprised three growth traits, five related nine traits. The residual intake (RFI) showed moderate high positive...

Abstract Background Feed accounts for about 70% of the total cost poultry meat production. Residual feed intake (RFI) has become preferred measure efficiency because it is phenotypically independent growth rate and body weight. In this study, our aim was to estimate genetic parameters identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) in 3314 purebred broilers using a genome-wide association study. Broilers were genotyped custom 55 K single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array. Results Estimates genomic...

In broiler production, there is a continuous effort to breed feed efficient chickens. Residual intake (RFI) an accurate indicator that has been accepted as alternative measure of the conventional conversion ratio. This study conducted duodenal transcriptome survey explore molecular basis RFI. Results showed are 599 genes were differentially expressed (DE) in duodenum between high RFI and low (LRFI) broilers.
