<h3>Importance</h3> Clopidogrel monotherapy after short dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has not yet been fully investigated in patients with acute syndrome (ACS). <h3>Objective</h3> To test the hypothesis of noninferiority 1 to 2 months DAPT compared 12 for a composite end point cardiovascular and bleeding events ACS. <h3>Design, Setting, Participants</h3> This multicenter, open-label, randomized clinical trial enrolled 4169 ACS who underwent...
We analyzed antibody response patterns according to the level of disease severity in patients with novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) Japan. 611 serum specimens from 231 COVID-19 (mild, 170; severe, 31; critical, 30). Immunoglobulin M (IgM) and IgG antibodies against nucleocapsid protein (N) spike 1 (S1) were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. The peaks fitting curves for optical density (OD) values IgM N appeared simultaneously, while those S1 delayed compared N. OD both...
Abstract Background Klebsiella variicola and K. quasipneumoniae are new species distinguishable from pneumoniae but they often misidentified as in clinical settings. Several reports have demonstrated the possibility that virulence factors features differ among these three phylogroups. In this study, we aimed to clarify whether there were differences bacterial between phylogroups isolated patients with bloodstream infections (BSIs) Japan. Methods Isolates all BSIs caused by admitted two...
Telomeres are the repeated sequences at chromosome ends which undergo shortening with cell division. The telomere of peripheral leukocytes is also facilitated by enhanced oxidative stress in various kinds disease including ischemic heart disease, diabetes mellitus, apoplexy, and Alzheimer's disease. Telomere Parkinson's (PD) has not yet been reported. pathogenesis for PD regarded to be associated stress. We investigated 28 Japanese male patients ages 47-69. Although we could find a...
Abstract Aluminum Scandium Nitride (AlScN) is an attractive material for use as a lattice-matched epitaxial barrier layer in GaN high-electron mobility transistors (HEMTs). Here we report the device fabrication, DC and RF characteristics of AlScN/AlN/GaN HEMTs on SiC substrates with regrown ohmic contacts. These devices show record high on-current over 4 A/mm, cutoff frequency ( f T ) 92.4 GHz maximum oscillation MAX 134.3 GHz.
Abstract Purpose To analyze the frequency and predictive factors of development postoperative pectus excavatum scoliosis in children who underwent surgery for cystic lung disease. Methods This study examined patients disease (open thoracoscopic) between July 2000 December 2018 with a > 3-year follow-up period. Lesion size, surgical outcomes, subsequent musculoskeletal complications were compared open thoracoscopic groups. Univariate multivariate analyses performed to identify factors....
Femoroacetabular impingement syndrome (FAIS) is a common condition causing hip and groin pain. Hip arthroscopy has been established as viable treatment option when nonoperative management fails to relieve symptoms of FAIS. Despite the numerous positive outcomes for FAIS, some individuals experience persistent postoperative Preoperative muscle strength may be associated with pain function after in patients FAIS; however, further investigation necessary confirm this theory. To determine effect...
Abstract Background Young pediatric surgeons should receive adequate training in various minimally invasive surgeries (MIS). However, it is essential to maintain patient safety and outcomes during the learning process. In Japan, endoscopic surgical skill qualification (ESSQ) system surgery was initiated by Japan Society for Endoscopic Surgery (JSES) 2009 objectively evaluate of surgeons. This study compared perioperative between with ESSQ qualifications those without (non-ESSQ). Methods We...
ABSTRACT The distribution of intermedilysin, a human-specific cytolysin, among the anginosus group streptococci and correlation toxin production infection by Streptococcus intermedius were investigated. PCR Southern hybridization specific for intermedilysin gene revealed that exists only in S. no homologue to is distributed constellatus . Thus, useful as marker Moreover, hemolysis assay Western blotting with intermedilysin-specific antibodies clearly demonstrated level isolates from...
Abstract We report a patient with congenital Chagas disease in Japan. This reemphasizes the role of neglected and emerging tropical diseases era globalization. It also indicates need for increased vigilance detecting non–disease-endemic countries.
A simple and accurate molecular diagnostic method for malaria is urgently needed due to the limitations of conventional microscopic examination. In this study, we demonstrate a new procedure human using loop mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) MinION™ nanopore sequencer. We generated specific LAMP primers targeting 18S-rRNA gene all five Plasmodium species including two P. ovale subspecies (P. falciparum, vivax, wallikeri, curtisi, knowlesi malariae) examined blood samples collected from...
Introduction: Whole genome sequencing (WGS) of influenza viruses is important for preparing vaccines and coping with newly emerging viruses. However, WGS difficult to perform using conventional next-generation sequencers in developing countries, where facilities are often inadequate. In this study, we developed a high-throughput method clinical specimens the MinION portable sequencer. Methods: genomes A B were amplified by multiplex RT-PCR from 13 collected Tokyo, Japan. Barcode tags added...
We previously reported a cytosolic pyruvate kinase (EC 2.7.1.40) from Toxoplasma gondii (TgPyKI) that differs most eukaryotic kinases in being regulated by glucose 6-phosphate rather than fructose 1,6-diphosphate. Another putative (TgPyKII) was identified parasite genome, which exhibits 32% amino acid sequence identity to TgPyKI and retains signature motifs acids essential for substrate binding catalysis. Whereas is closely related plant/algal enzymes, phylogenetic analysis suggests...
Abstract In 2008, an outbreak of human trichinosis associated with ingestion raw soft-shelled turtles was identified and investigated in Taiwan. The data suggested that patients were likely infected Trichinella papuae.
Bloodstream infections are major causes of morbidity and mortality that lead to prolonged hospital stays higher medical costs. In this study, we aimed evaluate the MinION nanopore sequencer for identification most dominant pathogens in positive blood culture bottles.16S ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 rRNA genes were amplified by PCR reactions with barcoded primers using nine clinical isolates obtained from bottles 11 type strains, including five types Candida species. Barcoded amplicons mixed, multiplex...
The recent spread of artemisinin (ART)-resistant Plasmodium falciparum represents an emerging global threat to public health. In Southeast Asia, the C580Y mutation kelch13 (k13) is dominant ART-resistant P. falciparum. Therefore, a simple method for detection urgently needed enable widespread routine surveillance in field. aim this study develop new diagnostic procedure using loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) combined with MinION nanopore sequencer.A LAMP assay k13 gene detect...
