Magnetic circular x-ray dichroism (MCXD) measurements at the Co ${L}_{2,3}$ and ${M}_{2,3}$ core edges reveal a strongly enhanced perpendicular orbital moment ( ${m}_{\mathrm{orb}}$) in Co/Pt multilayers which show magnetic anisotropy (PMA). MCXD signals Pt ${N}_{6,7}$ ${O}_{2,3}$ edges, arising from $5d\ensuremath{-}\mathrm{Co}3d$ hybridization, persist for thinnest layer. The hybridization is shown to be localized interface cause ${m}_{\mathrm{orb}}$ enhancement drives PMA. Unambiguous...

To understand the molecular mechanism of ligand-induced gating inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) receptor (IP3R)/Ca2+release channel, we analyzed channel properties deletion mutants retaining both IP3-binding and channel-forming domains IP3R1. Using intrinsically IP3R-deficient cells as host for expression, determined that six mutants, those lacking residues 1–223, 651–1130, 1267–2110, 1845–2042, 1845–2216, 2610–2748, did not exhibit any measurable Ca2+ release activity, whereas 1131–1379...

Three subtypes of inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor (IP3R1, IP3R2, and IP3R3) Ca2+ release channel share basic properties but differ in terms regulation. To what extent they contribute to complex signaling, such as oscillations, remains largely unknown. Here we show that HeLa cells express comparable amounts IP3R1 IP3R3, knockdown by RNA interference each subtype results dramatically distinct signaling patterns. Knockdown significantly decreases total signals terminates oscillations....

The spin, in-plane and out-of-plane orbital magnetic dipole moments of almost purely interfacial Co atoms were directly determined for Au/2-monolayer nanoclusters/Au(111) by angle-dependent circular x-ray dichroism (MCXD) measurements. field- temperature-dependent MCXD evidences a ferromagnetic(FM)-to-superparamagnetic phase transition in single-domain clusters with decreasing size. are remarkably enhanced as compared bulk values, verifying theoretical predictions. The first observation of a magnetic circular x-ray dichroism (MCXD) at the Mn L2,3 core edges in antiferromagnetic LaMnO3 shows canted spin and orbital ( m(orb)) moments arising from lattice distortions. An L2,3-edge MCXD ferromagnetic metals insulators, La1-xSr(x)MnO3+delta, reveals that m(orb) strongly depends on x metallic regime but remains unchanged with metal-to-insulator transition (x approximately 0.16). O K-edge MCXD, which caused by 2p-3d hybridization, is much larger metal than...

Serious arrhythmic events in most of patients suffering from sudden cardiac arrest are Ventricular Fibrillation (VF) and Tachycardia (VT). For these serious events, the timely employment an electrical defibrillator may lead to successful results. From this viewpoint, widespread deployment Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) has been suggested important component AEDs is accurate quick detection by means appropriate algorithm.
