Cell membranes contain various transporter proteins, some of which are responsible for transferring amino acids across membrane. In this study, we report another class carrier termed Serinc1-5, that incorporates a polar acid serine into and facilitates the synthesis two serine-derived lipids, phosphatidylserine sphingolipids. Serinc is unique protein family shows no homology to other proteins but highly conserved among eukaryotes. The members 11 transmembrane domains, rat Serinc1...

Background Although the liquid embolic agent, Onyx, is often preferred treatment for cerebral dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs), there have only been a limited number of single-center studies to evaluate its performance. Objective To carry out multicenter study determine predictors complications, obliteration, and functional outcomes associated with primary Onyx embolization DAVFs. Methods From Consortium Dural Arteriovenous Fistula Outcomes Research (CONDOR) database, we identified...

Purpose:To determine whether vascular risk factors, underlying vessel diameter, and/or the type of stent affect restenosis rates for vertebral ostium stents. Methods:A single-center retrospective analysis was conducted 44 patients (31 men; mean age 61 years, range 32–81) who underwent stenting 48 ostial lesions in arteries between 1999 and 2005. Only angiographic follow-up were included analysis. Cox regression utilized factor association with binary (≥50% versus <50%). Stent types...

Sentinel headaches (SHs) associated with cerebral aneurysms (CAs) could be due to microbleeds, which are considered a sign that an aneurysm is unstable. Despite the prognostic importance of these they remain difficult detect using routine imaging studies. The objective this pilot study microbleeds SH magnetic resonance (MRI) quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) sequence and then evaluate morphological characteristics unstable microbleeds.

Background Anterior cranial fossa dural arteriovenous fistulas (ACF-dAVFs) are aggressive vascular lesions. The pattern of venous drainage is the most important determinant symptoms. Due to absence a sinus in anterior fossa, ACF-dAVFs have some degree through small cortical veins. We describe natural history, angiographic presentation and outcomes largest cohort ACF-dAVFs. Methods CONDOR consortium includes data from 12 international centers. Patients included study were diagnosed with an...

Background Antiplatelet agents are required to prevent thromboembolic complications from recently deployed intracranial stents, yet they carry a risk of bleeding that may be serious in patients with recent subarachnoid hemorrhage. Method Consecutive at single institution who had ruptured saccular aneurysms treated stent assisted coiling were retrospectively reviewed. Our primary outcomes ischemic stroke related the and possibly antithrombotic therapy. Secondary included 3 month follow-up...

OBJECTIVE Borden-Shucart type I dural arteriovenous fistulas (dAVFs) lack cortical venous drainage and occasionally necessitate intervention depending on patient symptoms. Conversion is the rare transformation of a low-grade dAVF to higher grade. Factors associated with increased risk conversion grade are poorly understood. The authors hypothesized that partial treatment dAVFs an independent factor for conversion. METHODS multicenter Consortium Dural Arteriovenous Fistula Outcomes Research...

Cranial dural arteriovenous fistulas (dAVFs) are often treated with endovascular therapy, but occasionally a multimodality approach including surgery and/or radiosurgery is utilized. Recurrence after an initial angiographic cure has been reported, estimated rates ranging from 2% to 14.3%, few risk factors have identified. The objective of this study was identify associated recurrence dAVF putative cure.
