Background: Several advanced bronchoscopy platforms are currently available, but the clinical data supporting their use vary. Electromagnetic navigation (ENB) remains dominant technology; it is limited by its reliance on preoperative computed tomography, which only approximates patient anatomy during procedure. Recently, ENB was enhanced with (1) addition of digital tomosynthesis-based correction, (2) improvements in planning algorithms, and (3)...
Background: Currently, there is significant variability in bronchoscopy training across pulmonary and critical care medicine (PCCM) programs nationwide, including procedural volume exposure to simulation training. Despite the increased number of interventional pulmonology (IP) fellowship United States, their direct educational impact on PCCM fellows' unknown. Objective: To identify quantify differences flexible competency among fellows from institutes with IP fellowships compared those...
Abstract Background Robotic-assisted bronchoscopy has recently emerged as an alternative to electromagnetic navigational for the evaluation of peripheral pulmonary lesions. While robotic-assisted is proposed have several advantages, such easier learning curve, it unclear if comparable diagnostic utility bronchoscopy. Methods R obotic versus E lectromagnetic L es I on A ssessme NT (RELIANT) investigator-initiated, single-center, open label, noninferiority, cluster randomized controlled trial...

Background
Lung nodule incidence is increasing. Many nodules require biopsy to discriminate between benign and malignant causes. The gold standard for minimally invasive biopsy, CT scan-guided transthoracic needle (CT-TTNB), has not been compared directly with navigational bronchoscopy, a method that recently seen rapid technological innovation associated improving diagnostic yield lower complication rates. Current estimates of the usefulness both methods are based largely on...
Abstract: It has been 30 years since the first commercial three-dimensional (3D) printer was available on market. The technological advancement of 3D printing far exceeded its implementation in medicine. application technology potential playing a major role within interventional pulmonology; specifically, management complex airway disease. Tailoring to patient-specific anatomical malformation caused by benign or malignant disease is challenge faced pulmonologists. Such cases often require...
Lung nodule evaluation accounts for a significant proportion of the practice pulmonary medicine, thoracic surgery, and interventional radiology. Bronchoscopic sampling small peripheral nodules frequently requires assistance an additional imaging or navigation tool: electromagnetic navigation, virtual bronchoscopy, fluoroscopic cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), robot-assisted, etc.1–3 Except results from NAVIGATE study, majority data regarding is retrospective studies.4 CBCT assisted...
Practice patterns for the use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) during high-risk airway interventions vary, and data are limited. We aim to characterize our recent experience using ECMO procedural support whole-lung lavage (WLL) bronchoscopy central obstruction (CAO).We performed a retrospective cohort study adults who received WLL from 1 July 2018 30 March 2020. Our primary end point was successful completion intervention. Secondary points included ECMO-associated complications...
A survey was carried out of 145 pregnant women in the third trimester pregnancy to assess motivators stop tobacco smoking and women's knowledge fetal maternal risk smoking. In addition, acceptability nicotine replacement products use pregnancy. The findings this show that tend know about risks but their is deficient risks. association cot death appears be greatest motivator Overall, 74% wished 68% would accept a product.
There is little published data on women's experiences of having had an instrumental vaginal delivery (IVD). We conducted a postal survey women who IVD at our centre between November 2007 and January 2008, using semi-structured questionnaire to ascertain perceptions. The response rate was 63% (58/92). Eleven (19%) felt that the risks benefits were explained them. Although 46/58 (79%) needed episiotomy, only 17(37%) recalled explanation. Increased fear childbirth following reported by 16/58...
The purpose of the NSTX Center Stack Upgrade project is to expand operational space and thereby physics basis for next-step ST facilities. plasma aspect ratio (ratio major minor radius) upgrade increased 1.5 from original value 1.26, which increases cross sectional area center stack by a factor ~ 3 makes possible higher levels performance pulse duration.
Background: The Bonastent is one of the newest self-expanding metallic tracheobronchial prostheses being used in central airways. Experience with this stent limited; there a gap literature. We report herein case series implantation across variety pathologies. Methods: All adult patients who had implanted within tree between November 2017 through May 2018 were included series. Data derived from combination sources: electronic medical records and Research Electronic Capture–based bronchoscopy...
To assess whether any differences exist in Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) scores among postgraduate year 1 (PGY-1) residents across specialties.PGY-1 representing 11 specialties at our academic institution were invited to take a Web-based IRI survey three time points. The condensed into several binary groups for analysis: internal medicine (IM) versus non-IM; primary care (IM, family medicine) nonprimary care; emergency (EM, including the combined IM/EM) non-EM; surgical (general...
