Indications of lower mantle discontinuities have been debated for decades, but still little is known about their properties, and origins are enigmatic. In our study broad-band recordings deep events examined the presence signals from lower-mantle with a novel technique. We deconvolve vertical component P-wave coda in period range around 10s by S waveform stack many deconvolved traces moveout time corrections. synthetic seismograms an earth model without discontinuities, strongest signal thus...

We investigate the magnitude of shear‐wave velocity and density jumps across 410‐km 660‐km discontinuities in Earth's mantle. estimate SS reflection PS conversion coefficients from ScS reverberations receiver‐side P‐S converted phases, respectively, using broadband seismograms recorded at stations western Japan. Fractional changes model parameters that satisfy our observations northwest Pacific are (Δ Vs , Δ ρ )=(8.5%, 5.4%) for discontinuity, (4.9%, 1.9%) discontinuity.

The complete nucleotide sequence of the avian leukosis virus causing so-called fowl glioma has been previously determined. Primers were designed for detection glioma-causal (FGV) based on 3′ untranslated region viral genome. provirus and RNA FGV specifically detected in various organs tissues, including feather pulp, from experimentally infected birds using nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR) reverse transcription PCR. prevalence was evaluated 131 Japanese fowls a zoological garden Japan...

Reports on the sky being brightly illuminated before, during, or after large earthquakes have existed for many centuries. Physical processes behind this phenomena, however, has not been fully explained despite public interest in phenomena. In report, we present photographic evidence that visible light is emitted from faults. We observe luminescence occurs simultaneously with brittle faulting, and spatial distribution of coincides faulting pattern. This consists several colors recordable...

Triamino-substituted 1,3,5-triazine derivatives were synthesized and tested for inhibitory activities against the aromatase of human placental microsomes cytochrome P450 side chain cleavage cholesterol (P450SCC) pig adrenal mitochondria. The compounds having imidazolyl tertiary amino groups as substituents in ring showed significant aromatase-inhibitory activity. Among them, 17, 23, 26, 27 28 more active than reference compound, CGS 16949A. these P450SCC much weaker their activities. These...
