Abstract Resident memory T cells (T RM ) positioned within the respiratory tract are probably required to limit SARS-CoV-2 spread and COVID-19. Importantly, mostly non-recirculating, which reduces window of opportunity examine these in blood as they move lung parenchyma. Here, we identify circulating virus-specific cell responses during acute infection with functional, migratory apoptotic patterns modulated by viral proteins associated clinical outcome. Disease severity is predominantly IFNγ...

The SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) protein, the viral mediator for binding and entry into host cell, has sparked great interest as a target vaccine development treatments with neutralizing antibodies. Initial data suggest that virus low mutation rates, but its large genome could facilitate recombination, insertions, deletions, been described in other coronaviruses. Here, we deep-sequenced complete S gene from 18 patients (10 mild 8 severe COVID-19), found accumulates deletions upstream very close to...

Abstract During the coronavirus disease pandemic in Spain, from April 10–24, 2020, a total of 5,869 persons were screened for severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 at nursing homes. Among residents, 768 (23.9%) tested positive; among staff, 403 (15.2%). Of those testing positive, 69.7% residents and 55.8% staff asymptomatic.

Serological tests are essential for the control and management of COVID-19 pandemic (diagnostics surveillance, epidemiological immunity studies). We introduce a direct serological biosensor assay employing proprietary technology based on plasmonics, which offers rapid (<15 min) identification quantification severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) antibodies in clinical samples, without signal amplification. The portable plasmonic device employs custom-designed...

In addition, reference caspofungin MICs so far proven to be unreliable. species wild-type (WT) MIC distributions (for microorganisms in a species/drug combination no detectable phenotypic resistance) were 6,007 albicans, 186 C. dubliniensis, 3,188 glabrata complex,...

Abstract Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a bacterial human pathogen that causes primary atypical pneumonia. M. motility and infectivity are mediated by the immunodominant proteins P1 P40/P90, which form transmembrane adhesion complex. Here we report structure of P1, determined X-ray crystallography cryo-electron microscopy, P40/P90. Contrary to what had been suggested, binding site for sialic acid was found in P40/P90 not P1. Genetic clinical variability concentrates on N-terminal domain surfaces...

Abstract Resident memory T cells (T RM ) present at the respiratory tract may be essential to enhance early SARS-CoV-2 viral clearance, thus limiting infection and disease. While long-term antigen-specific are detectable beyond 11 months in lung of convalescent COVID-19 patients, it is unknown if mRNA vaccination encoding for S-protein can induce this frontline protection. Here we show that frequency CD4 + secreting IFNγ response S-peptides variable but overall similar mRNA-vaccinated...
