Abstract Background and Aim: Low levels of serum adiponectin have been reported to be associated with obesity, diabetes, non‐alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), as well several malignancies. Adiponectin knockout (KO) mice cause insulin resistance neointimal formation the artery. We used KO fed a high fat (HF) diet, investigated effect on progression carcinogenesis in vivo . Methods: wild type (WT) were HF diet or normal chow for periods 24 48 weeks. The contained 60% calories from fat....
Endoscopic ultrasound-guided pancreatography was performed on a 48-year-old man with diagnosis of pancreatic stone. A pylorus-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy had been previously this patient, approximately two years earlier, following the tumor-forming pancreatitis. retrograde and conventional percutaneous failed to yield diagnosis. However, endoscopic successfully, delineating duct filling defect caused by intraductal calculi. will be potential alternative in cases when has or proved...
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the fifth most common cancer type and third highest cause of death worldwide, develops in different types liver injuries, is mostly associated with cirrhosis. However, non-alcoholic fatty disease often causes HCC less fibrosis, number patients this rapidly increasing. The high mortality rate pathological complexity diseases require blood biomarkers that accurately reflect state damage presence HCC.Here we demonstrate a circulating protein, apoptosis inhibitor...
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect pemafibrate (PEM) in primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) patients with dyslipidemia.Patients who were diagnosed PBC between June 2018 and December 31, 2020 included if they also had dyslipidemia their alkaline phosphatase (ALP) or gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) levels remained above normal range despite taking 600 mg/day ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) for at least 6 months. Patients treated UDCA alone administered PEM as an add-on (PEM-add...
Pruritus is known to be a common complication in hepatitis patients, but the exact frequency and degree are not fully elucidated. Thus, we evaluated pruritus of 450 patients with chronic liver disease at our hospital. was observed 240 (53%) patients. significantly associated males (OR = 1.51, P 0.038) alkaline phosphatase (ALP) ≥ 200 U/L 1.56, 0.0495) less HBsAg-positive 0.449, 0.004). Seasonally, there no difference between summer winter. Of 24 refractory treated nalfurafine, 17 (71%)...
Aim This study aimed to evaluate the real‐world efficacy and safety of 12‐week sofosbuvir/velpatasvir (SOF/VEL) treatment for patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis caused by hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. Methods A total 72 Child–Pugh (CP) class B or were enrolled. We evaluated sustained virologic response at 12 weeks after end (SVR12), adverse events (AEs), changes in function. Results All participants had genotype 1 2 HCV At baseline, numbers CP 59 13, respectively. The overall...
Subepithelial lesions (SELs) are defined as being located under the mucosa. Presently, endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) is commonly performed to diagnose SELs. With development of new puncture needles, biopsy (EUS-FNB), which allows for acquisition large tissue samples, has been proposed. However, studies on EUS-FNB SELs measuring < 20 mm have not yielded satisfactory results. Therefore, we aimed assess performance and usefulness less than mm.The present study...
Extraction of common and intrahepatic bile duct stones is generally performed endoscopically. However, stone extraction in patients with surgically altered anatomy (SAA) sometimes difficult.1, 2 One reason that limited devices are available for balloon enteroscopy owing to the length size working channel. A novel retrieval basket a unique helical shape (VolticCatch V; Olympus Medical Systems, Tokyo, Japan; Figure 1) has been reported be useful extracting patient SAA using colonoscope channel...
Objectives. To evaluate the abdominal visceral fat area (VFA), we developed novel ultrasonographic (US) methods for estimating. We reported that the pancreas of interferon-regulatory factor (IRF) 2 knock-out (KO) mouse represents an early phase acute pancreatitis, including defective regulatory exocytosis, intracellular activation trypsin, and disturbance autophagy. The significantly upregulated downregulated genes in IRF2 KO have been reported. catalogue gene transcripts included two types calcium-binding proteins (S100 calcium binding protein G [S100g] Annexin A10 [Anxa10]), which were highly pancreas. As signal...

SUMMARY Five experiments involving 169 swine were conducted to determine the effects of 0.1% 0.5% sodium polyacrylate (PANa) in rations growing on weight gain, feed conversion, and occurrence esophagogastric lesions. Seemingly, PANa prevented from developing ulcers. Esophagogastric ulcers or erosions occurred 42.9% fed a PANa-free diet, but only 9.8% those diet containing PANa. Addition (0.1% 0.5%) ration increased gain conversion. The anti-ulcer effect was discussed.
Abstract A 66‐year‐old man underwent a single endoscopic ultrasound‐guided fine‐needle aspiration (EUS‐FNA) session and distal pancreatectomy for the pancreatic body adenocarcinoma measuring 12 mm in diameter. At 3 years after surgery, we diagnosed needle tract seeding (NTS) performed total gastrectomy. NTS can occur with small tumors or of EUS‐FNA.
A 54-year-old man was admitted with obstructive jaundice. Computed tomography showed common bile duct stricture and a tumor around the celiac artery. Repeated endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) as well laparotomic biopsy artery were diagnostically unsuccessful. Since progressed, EUS-FNA ERCP performed third time, finally leading to diagnosis of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. The treatment plan prognosis jaundice differ...
Abstract Rab7 is known to function in the autophagy and endocytosis pathways eukaryocytes related various diseases. We recently reported that plays a protective role against acute pancreatitis. However, its physiological exocytic cells remains unclear. Therefore, we investigated of pancreas-specific knockout mice (Rab7 Δpan ). Immunofluorescence microscopy revealed colocalized with amylase pancreatic acinar wild-type mice, but not mice. Western blotting confirmed localization zymogen granule...
An 83-year-old man with a history of carbon ion radiotherapy for hepatocellular carcinoma nine years ago presented to primary care hospital fever and abdominal pain. He underwent computed tomography, which revealed the rupture hepatic pseudoaneurysm close fiducial marker bleeding into bile duct. was successfully treated transcatheter arterial embolization. Thereafter, re-rupture occurred from site proximal first rupture, this similarly. It is necessary be alert not only tumor recurrence but...
The present study reports a rare case of full-blown Cushing's disease several years after an episode pituitary apoplexy. A 60 year-old woman complained muscular weakness and generalized malaise. Ten ago she had Diabetes mellitus was diagnosed at age 56, thereafter been controlled her plasma glucose with diet therapy oral hypoglycemic agents. She exhibited cushingoid feature moon face central obesity. Both ACTH serum cortisol levels were elevated to 170 pg/ml 19.6 μg/dl, respectively....
Abstract: A 51-year-old Japanese man was diagnosed with left-sided ulcerative colitis (UC) at age 41. He treated mesalazine and azathioprine maintained remission. At 51, the patient developed bloody stools, abdominal pain, scleritis, arthritis, cough, sputum, pericardial effusion. Considering that effusion is an atypical extraintestinal complication of UC, met diagnostic criteria for relapsing polychondritis (RP), a diagnosis RP complicating relapse UC made. Steroid therapy administered,...

The patient was a "73" -year-old woman who visited our hospital with the chief complaint of weight loss. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed an enlarged ampulla Vater, and biopsy led to diagnosis Group "4" gastric carcinoma; suspicious adenocarcinoma. There were no findings suggesting invasion into muscle layer duodenum, despite tumor mass formation being observed in sphincter Oddi. We performed endoscopic papillectomy for both diagnostic therapeutic purposes. Pathologically,...
