Currently, there is a lack of ideal risk prediction tools in the field emergency general surgery (EGS). The American Association for Surgery Trauma recommends developing assessment specifically EGS-related diseases. In this study, we sought to utilize machine learning (ML) algorithms explore and develop web-based calculator predicting five perioperative events eight common operations EGS.

Genetic alterations on 8p22 have been implicated in multiple cancers, including lung cancer. In this region, genetic variants of the class A scavenger receptor (SR-A) gene associated with prostate cancer risk and highlighted as a potential susceptibility cancer. To determine whether common polymorphisms SR-A are human to clarify role carcinogenesis. The relationship three potentially functional (T-365C, T+25C, Ala275Pro) was evaluated 1287 case subjects 1261 control from Chinese population. At...

Abstract Background This study aimed to compare postoperative complications in patients with esophagogastric variceal bleeding (EVB) who underwent laparoscopic splenectomy combined pericardial devascularization (LSPD) versus transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) procedures. Methods A retrospective collection of medical records was conducted from January 2014 May 2020 at Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University Science and Technology. The included the...

This study aimed to investigate the risk factors of second primary cancer among female breast (BC) survivors, with emphasis on prediction individual conditioned patient's characteristics. We identified 208,474 BC patients diagnosed between 2004 and 2010 from Surveillance, Epidemiology End Results (SEER) database. Subdistribution proportional hazard model competing-risk nomogram were used explore non-BC, predict 5- 10-year probabilities BC. Model performance was evaluated via calibration...

Previous studies have reported an increased risk for second primary malignancies (SPMs) after cervical cancer (CC). This study aims to quantify and assess the of developing SPMs in long-term survivors CC.A population-based cohort CC patients aged 20-79 years was obtained from Surveillance, Epidemiology, End Results (SEER) database. A competing model corresponding nomogram were constructed predict 3-, 5-, 10-year cumulative risks SPMs. Fine-Gray plot created validate model. Finally, we...

Background: Lung cancer (LC) patients are at high risk of developing second primary (SPC). This study aimed to explore the factors associated with SPC and provide an individualized prediction model for LC patients. Methods: Initial lung (IPLC) diagnosed between 1998 2011 were identified from Surveillance, Epidemiology, End Results (SEER) database. A Fine-Gray multivariate competing-risk was used estimate SPC, assessed regarding discrimination calibration. nomogram designed clinical...
