In Brief Background: This study was aimed to identify the reasons for discontinuing intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapy in neovascular age-related macular degeneration. Methods: is a retrospective chart review of single Australian private practice. Analysis included patients who discontinued treatment from March 2006 June 2012. Results: Of 248 commenced treatment, 105 (42.3%) had by The discontinuation were available 102 (97.1%) patients. 9 (3.6%) entire cohort,...
To determine how Hardy-Rand-Rittler (HRR) colour vision testing correlates with visual functional and structural assessments in Cone Cone-Rod Dystrophy. Thirty-four 69 Dystrophy patients diagnosed by electroretinography (ERG) at the Save Sight Institute Sydney were included a retrospective analysis. Each patient's HRR test scores compared markers of cone rod system function including acuity (VA), ERG responses, changes on Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Fundus...
Purpose: To analyse posterior segment optical coherence tomography (OCT) findings in ocular syphilis. Methods: Medical records of 54 patients presenting consecutively with syphilitic uveitis were reviewed. Vitreous, retina and choroid (one eye/patient) assessed by spectral-domain OCT on presentation (54 eyes) after treatment (31 eyes). Improvement signs associations between final best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) determined McNemar's Fisher's exact tests. Results: Early inner retinal...
We report a patient with macular oedema due to type 1 telangiectasia responding intravitreal aflibercept injection. A 51-year-old man was diagnosed idiopathic (IMT) in the right eye. The refractory initial treatment bevacizumab and argon laser photocoagulation. then treated injections, following which completely resolved his vision significantly improved. Intravitreal injection appears improve reduce persistent secondary IMT demonstrated promising anatomical visual outcomes.
Purpose: To assess the effect of intravitreal ranibizumab and aflibercept on retinal pigment epithelial detachment (RPED) in patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration. Methods: This was a retrospective analysis data from prospectively designed implemented clinical audit. Analysis included change RPED dimensions visual acuity 92/233 treatment-naive eyes degeneration 6 months after treatment either or ranibizumab. Results: There no significant between-group difference adjusted...
We present the first published case of successfully treated disseminated Aspergillus lentulus infection in a solid organ transplant recipient with invasive pulmonary disease, endophthalmitis, and cerebral abscess. This highlights important challenges associated treating A. lentulus, particularly regarding antifungal resistance toxicities long-term therapy.
To report a case of recurrent and bilateral optic disc edema following intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) administration.A 46 year-old woman received IVIG on 3 separate occasions over 7 years for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL) each time developed headaches transient visual disturbance, was subsequently found to have swelling. Lumbar puncture confirmed raised cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) opening pressure there resolution treatment with oral acetazolamide (Diamox). To our knowledge is no literature...
