Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) infections have emerged as a serious threat to health worldwide. They are associated with increased morbidity and mortality capable of silently colonizing the gastrointestinal tract. Because this, there is great interest characterize epidemiology CRE carriage acquisition in healthcare facilities. The aim this study was determine prevalence factors fecal (CRE-fc), risk for incident cases.A cohort conducted at tertiary care hospital from January...

The progressive disseminated histoplasmosis (PDH) has been associated with severe disease and high risk of death among people living HIV (PLWHIV). Therefore, the purpose this multicenter, prospective, double-blinded study done in ten Mexican hospitals was to determine diagnostic accuracy detecting Histoplasma capsulatum antigen urine using IMMY ALPHA EIA kit (IAHE), clarus GM Enzyme Immunoassay (cHGEI IMMY) MiraVista Urine Antigen LFA (MVHUALFA); as well Hcp100 1281-1283220SCAR nested PCRs...

Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae carrying New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase 1 (NDM-1) have rarely been reported in Latin America. We report of an outbreak caused by a blaNDM-1-harboring plasmid spread through different bacterial species, including Escherichia coli (ST617) and Enterobacter cloacae (ST182) isolates from the same patient three Klebsiella pneumoniae (ST22) derived epidemiologically related patients. IncFII plasmids were found all strains. Measures to control applied successfully.

Background The Histoplasma urine antigen (HUAg) is the preferred method to diagnose progressive disseminated histoplasmosis (PDH) in HIV patients. In 2007, IMMY ALPHA EIA was approved for clinical on-site use, and therefore useful regions outside United States. However, ALPHA-HUAg considered inferior MVista-HUAg which only available on referral. We aim evaluate diagnostic accuracy of ALPHA-HUAg. Methodology/Principal findings conducted a multicenter, prospective, test study two secondary...

Latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) affects one-fourth of the world´s population. Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) recipients are at an elevated risk developing active (ATBI). In this retrospective study donors and HSCT who underwent between February 2000 June 2018, our aim was to determine prevalence LTBI ATBI describe diagnostic therapeutic strategies in population endemic region. The cohort 409 participants included 125 allogeneic (allo-HSCT) recipients, 165 autologous...

We conducted a retrospective study comparing immunosuppressed patients without human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) with historical cohort of people HIV histoplasmosis. included 199 proven or probable histoplasmosis, which 25.1% were HIV. Diabetes mellitus, chronic kidney disease, hematologic neoplasms, rheumatologic diseases, transplantations more frequent among (P < .01). Forty-four percent immunocompromised...
