<strong>Background:</strong> Structural heart disease (SHD) has great impacts on healthcare systems, creating further public health concerns. Proper data are scant regarding the magnitude of affected population by SHD. <strong>Objectives:</strong> This study aimed to determine prevalence SHD among children and adolescents in an Iranian population. <strong>Methods:</strong> In this population-based study, a multistage cluster-random sampling was used choose schools from Tehran urban area. All...
Background Little evidence is available on post-pulmonary embolism impairment (PPEI), a recently defined complication of pulmonary (PE) encompassing dysfunctional clinical and imaging parameters. In the present study, we sought to evaluate its frequency with focus main components. Methods this prospective registry, included patients confirmed diagnosis acute PE focused those initial right ventricular (RV) dysfunction. Their baseline, pre-discharge, 6 month follow-up characteristics were...
The Pulmonary Embolism Quality of Life (PEmb-QoL) questionnaire is the first disease-specific scale for assessing quality life in patients with a history pulmonary embolism (PE).To assess cross-cultural validity and reliability PEmb-QoL questionnaire. The Persian version was prepared through forward backward translation English questionnaire. Six months after diagnosis acute PE, consecutive Persian-speaking were asked to complete PEmb-QoL, generic 36-item Short Form (SF-36) questionnaires...
Abstract Introduction Tricuspid valve (TV) has a complex anatomy causing some difficulties in echocardiographic evaluation. In this study, we sought to assess the geometry of TV patients with functional tricuspid regurgitation (TR) by implementation 2‐ and 3‐dimennsional (2D 3D) echocardiography. Methods case–control geometrical features were evaluated forty TR using examinations, those data compared twenty‐five age‐ sex‐matched healthy individuals. Results The mean age was 50 ± 12 years,...
Objective: Hypertension is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and associated with increased all-cause mortality. Cardiac changes such as impaired left ventricular (LV) function, hypertrophy (LVH), heart failure are consequences of chronic exposure to elevated blood pressure. Speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) sensitive method detecting early regional global myocardial dysfunction missed in asymptomatic patients disease by conventional modalities. This study aimed assess the...
Abstract Our prospective study investigates the 3‐year trajectory of disease‐specific quality life (QoL) using PEmb‐QoL questionnaire, functional performance via 6‐min walk tests, and 5‐year survival following acute pulmonary embolism (PE) explores their association with patient demographics clinical characteristics. We highlight that PE‐specific QoL improves over time despite no significant changes in cardiopulmonary performance.
Introduction: The left atrial appendage (LAA) lies within the confines of pericardium in close relation to free wall ventricle. LAA is long and thin with a narrow base. best evaluated by transesophageal echocardiography. Surgeons may ligate during mitral valve (MV) replacement remove potential source embolism. Unfortunately, high rate unsuccessful occlusion has been reported, regardless technique employed. Case Presentation: A 57-year-old woman underwent cardiac surgery (mitral valve, aortic...
Acute myocarditis is one of the etiologies acute heart failure, chronic dilated cardiomyopathy, and cardiac mortality. The extent right ventricular (RV) involvement its impact on course disease have been scarcely studied. This study aimed to evaluate both prevalence RV dysfunction in echocardiographic measures as a diagnostic tool for compared with magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) findings. This retrospective enrolled patients definite or probable diagnosis based Lake Louise criteria CMR...
Ventricular septal rupture (VSR) is an ominous mechanical complication of acute myocardial infarction (MI) accompanied with a poor prognosis. Transcatheter closure (TCC) VSR has been proposed as alternative approach for surgery. This study presents 79-year-old man diabetes mellitus, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and chronic stable angina 3-vessel coronary artery disease, who had refused bypass graft. He complained orthopnea dyspnea New York Heart Association (NYHA) function class III after the...
A 34 Year lady is decribed in whom a persistent left superior vena cava impinged on the posterior wall of atrium that accompanied with membrane at distal part it’s impingement and producing subdivided
We herein describe a 34-year-old woman with persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC) impinging on the posterior wall of atrium, subdivided by membrane at distal part impingement. In this patient, much dilated coronary sinus due to PLSVC resulted in membrane-like structure atrium appearance cor triatriatum transthoracic echocardiography (ie, pseudo triatriatum).Although is common malformation systemic vein, its aforementioned presentation rare.

Proper data are scant regarding the magnitude of affected population by SHD. We aimed to determine prevalence SHD among children and adolescents. Methods: In this population-based study, multistage cluster-random sampling was used choose schools from Tehran urban area. Infective endocarditis can cause several major complications, including valvular destruction, aneurysm formation, and aortic ring abscesses, pseudoaneurysm formation in left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) is quite a rare complication of infective endocarditis. Here, we present case which had two simultaneous LVOT pseudoaneurysms, bicuspid valve (BAV) abscess along with the presence anerobic bacteria (Peptostreptococcus) tissue culture. We describe echocardiographic, computed tomography...
