To determine whether potential breast milk exposure to interferon-beta (IFN-β) or glatiramer acetate (GA) is safe for the infant. We identified 74 infants born 69 women with MS who breastfed under IFN-β (n = 39), GA 34), both 1). Women had been enrolled into German Multiple Sclerosis and Pregnancy Registry during pregnancy. Data were obtained from standardized, telephone-administered questionnaires completed by mother pregnancy at 1, 3, 6, 12 months postpartum infant's take-home medical...
Abstract Aims Pre-eclampsia (PE), a pregnancy-induced hypertensive disorder, affects 4–5% of pregnancies worldwide. It is well known that hypertension associated with an increased risk arrhythmias; however, data on the association between PE and arrhythmias are sparse. Methods results In this observational cohort study, we identified all primiparous women who gave birth in Denmark (1997–2016) using Danish nationwide registries. The were stratified whether they developed during pregnancy...
Abstract Background and Aims Patients with congenital heart disease (CHD) form a high-risk subgroup for infective endocarditis (IE), necessitating tailored prevention treatment strategies. However, comprehensive nationwide data comparing IE characteristics outcomes in patients without CHD, including children, are sparse. This study aims to address this gap knowledge. Methods Using Danish registries, all from 1977 2021 were identified stratified on whether they had diagnosis of regardless its...
Abstract Background and Aims In patients undergoing heart valve surgery, subsequent bacteremia infective endocarditis are feared events. Data on the incidence bacterial microbiological etiology following left-sided surgery sparse. Methods Between 2010–2021, all were identified using Danish nationwide registries. Incidence type within one-year post-surgery was analyzed. Secondary outcome of interest endocarditis. Cumulative curves stratified for species subgroups interest: age, sex. Results A...
Hip fracture requiring surgical fixation is a common condition with high mortality and morbidity in the geriatric population. The patients are usually frail, vulnerable to postoperative complications delayed recovery. Few studies have investigated physical therapy methods prevent hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP) after hip surgery. To explore whether an intensified regimen can HAP reduce hospital length of stay aged 80 older, following surgery. The inclusion criterion was or older who had...
Abstract Background Patients with congenital heart disease (CHD) form a high-risk niche among patients considered at of infective endocarditis (IE). Their life-long exposure to the risk IE, starting from birth, necessitates nuanced approach both prevention and treatment strategies. However, comprehensive data an unselected nationwide cohort, including children, are lacking. Purpose This study sets out compare characteristics associated outcomes IE without CHD. Methods Using registries, all...
Aims Atrial fibrillation (AF) is associated with heart failure (HF). However, it unclear if postoperative AF (POAF) following non‐cardiac surgery differs from non‐surgical in terms of the risk HF. We compared long‐term rate incident HF patients developing new‐onset POAF who did not develop and non‐valvular (NVAF). Methods results Using Danish nationwide registries, all aged ≥30 years developed (1996–2020) were identified matched a 1:3 ratio by age, sex, type (only for group), selected...
Abstract Background Transient bacteremia is a well-known complication of transurethral resection the prostate (TUR-P). Still, associated risk and subsequent infective endocarditis (endocarditis) after TUR-P has been sparsely examined. Purpose To examine following TUR-P. Methods We identified all patients who underwent between 2010-2020 with ICD-10 codes from Danish nationwide registries. Patients were compared to an age-matched cohort males general population (1:1 match-ratio). defined...
Abstract Background In patients undergoing heart valve surgery, subsequent bacteremia and infective endocarditis are feared events due to the associated high mortality. Knowledge on incidence specification of following left-sided surgery sparse may have implications for prophylactic strategies follow-up. Purpose To examine six months surgery. Methods period from January 2010 December 2021 all were identified using Danish nationwide registries. Patients followed until a maximum months, end...
Patients with chronic renal failure on hemodialysis carry a significant risk of infective endocarditis (IE), but data whether these patients differ from other IE in terms comorbidity, microbiology, rates surgery and mortality are sparse.Using Danish nationwide registries, all diagnosed between February 1, 2010, May 14, 2018 were identified categorized into "hemodialysis group" "non-hemodialysis group." Patient groups compared by comorbidities, microbiological etiology, cardiac surgery,...
Introduction: Hospital-acquired pneumonia may affect hospitalized patients and results in increased morbidity mortality. Preventive actions to reduce the incidence are required, especially at a higher risk of postoperative complications, such as elderly. Purpose: To explore whether an intensified physiotherapy regimen can prevent hospital-acquired hospital length stay aged 80 older who have undergone hip fracture surgery. Method: Inclusion criteria were or had surgery...
Einleitung: Das anale Fistelleiden ist eine der häufigsten Erkrankungen auf dem Gebiet Proktologie. Problematisch hierbei vor allem die kontinenzerhaltende Versorgung hohen transsphinktären Fisteln. Ein relativ junges OP-Verfahren „LIFT-procedure“ (Ligation of the intersphincteric fistula tract). Bei Verfahren wird intersphinktäre Fistelgang über einen perianalen Zugang, welcher anschließend primär verschlossen wird, ligiert und reseziert.
