본 연구는 만 70세 이상 85세 이하의 비만여성노인을 대상으로 12주간 아쿠아로빅과 맨손근력운동을 적용한 복합운동을 실시하여 노인체력검사, 대사증후군 위험인자 및 인슐린 저항성에 미치는 영향을 구명하기 위해 운동군 19명, 대조군 15명으로 구분하여 실시하였다. 복합운동은 주 3회 중 아쿠아로빅 1회, 맨손근력운동 2회를 실시하였고, 1회 운동지속시간은 60분으로 4주마다 운동강도를 점진적으로 증가시켜 복합운동 전과 후에 측정된 자료의 상호작용 효과 검증을 반복측정 분산분석을 시기 간 차이는 대응표본 T검정, 집단 독립표본 T검정을 실시하였으며, 유의수준은 .05로 설정하여 분석하였다. 그 결과 운동군의 노인기능체력이 증가되었으며, 중성지방, 수축기혈압, 허리둘레의 감소와 고밀도 지단백 콜레스테롤이 증가되었다. 이와 같은 결과는 복합운동이 비만여성노인의 기능체력 향상과 개선에 긍정적인 효과를 주어 비만 해소와 건강 유지 증진에 도움을 준 것으로 사료된다.
