Context: Thymus alternans Klokov (Lamiaceae) is a neglected species of the genus (Sect. Serpyllum) endemic to Carpathian area, where it used as flavouring agent and for medicinal purposes. Objective: The aim work was identify antiproliferative constituents from flowering aerial parts this plant.Materials methods: extracts were analyzed by HPLC-MSn subjected extensive chromatographic separations. isolated compounds (phenolics triterpenes) structurally elucidated MS 1D 2D NMR experiments....

Interspecific hybridization is an important evolutionary force promoting plant speciation. In the genus Onosma, one of three main lineages presumably evolved by hybrid The assumed lineage (Heterotricha) consists two species complexes with bimodal karyotypes containing different numbers large (L) and small (S) chromosomes, tetraploid Onosma pseudoarenaria (2n = 12 L + 14S) triploid arenaria 8S). latter represents a rare case hemisexual, asymmetrically compensating allopolyploids....

Monitoring the occurrence of new alien species among native flora is first prerequisite for preventing their later invasive spread.During last decade, we recorded data regarding 25 taxa to Slovakia including 21 casual and 4 locally naturalised species, with ornamental plants predominating significantly. The Cenchrus flaccidus, Cotoneaster zabelii, Doronicum pardalianches Panicum virgatum are able spread habitats thus represent greatest risk plant in Slovakia.

Background and Aims Violaspecies are commonly grown for their ornamental flowers, but evolutionary history taxonomy often complicated have been poorly explored so far. This is a study of the polymorphic, typically blue-flowered species Viola suavis, concentrating on white-flowered populations uncertain taxonomic assignment that occur in Spain central south-eastern Europe. The aim was to resolve origin status intraspecific structure (post)glacial this species.

ABSTRACT The essential oil variability was studied in 181 samples of Thymus pulegioides L. subsp. chamaedrys (Fries) Gusul. collected at 52 localities eastern Slovakia. set proved to represent five different chemotypes: fenchone-type, linalool-type, citral/geraniol-type, thymol-type and carvacrol-type. fact that each population is represented by plants various chemotypes demonstrates another case chemical polymorphism the genus. While North Europe merely thymol carvacrol types were found...

The genus Thymus includes several species that are used as flavouring, food preservative well in cosmetics. Their secondary metabolites have been extensively studied for pharmacological effects. Nonetheless, some neglected and deserve to be explored chemical composition biological activities. This is the case with alternans, a Carpathian bush additive preparation of traditional herbal medicine. In this work, we analysed T. alternans essential oil by GC GC-MS evaluated its antimicrobial...

Studies of pollen, seed set and experimental hybridizations were carried out to clarify breeding behavior gene flow pathways in Taraxacum sect. Erythrosperma. Seeds from hybridization (106 samples), open pollinated (34) bagged (43) capitula analyzed for system using a flow–cytometric screen. In the section Erythrosperma, diploids are obligate sexuals, mostly allogamous; however, autogamy also occurs (in 28% unpollinated capitula). Triploids apomicts with residual sexuality 13% by pollen...

The aim of this work was to trap the volatiles released from whole frozen and dry aerial parts, and, separately, different organs (leaves, stems, corolla calyx) bastard balm (Melittis melissophyllum L., Lamiaceae) populations collected in Italy Slovakia by HS-SPME, identify headspace constituents responsible for characteristic aroma impression GC/FID GC/MS techniques. Among more than 100 volatile components detected, C(8) alcohol oct-1-en-3-ol, typical mushroom-like odor, phenolic coumarin,...

Several species within the genus Lotus are important forage crops, and many endangered or rare. Despite high genetic diversity of genus, identification is problematic because limited number reliable morphological markers. In search a quick, inexpensive, steady method for identification, genome size cell cycle/endoreduplication intensity 14 accessions belonging to eight were estimated by flow cytometry. ISSR-PCR was also applied find sensitive molecular markers estimation. Genome estimation...
