A rapid and novel technique was developed to separate long-lived fission products <sup>152</sup>Eu (<italic>T</italic><sub>1/2</sub> = 13.33 years) <sup>137</sup>Cs 30.17 using a solid liquid extraction (SLX) with chitosan biopolymer based hydrogel (ChG).
