Biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) scaffolds have been widely used in orthopedic and dental fields as osteoconductive bone substitutes. However, BCP are not satisfactory for the stimulation of osteogenic differentiation maturation. To enhance differentiation, we prepared alendronate- (ALN-) eluting scaffolds. The coating ALN on was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), attenuated total reflectance-Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR)....
Purpose The purpose of this study was to assess current levels awareness clinical trials (CTs), perceptions regarding their benefits and willingness participate CTs among Korean cancer patients. Materials Methods From December 2012 August 2015, we distributed questionnaires patients receiving systemic anti-cancer therapy at Seoul National University Hospital, Seoul, Korea. Results A total 397 out 520 requested (76.3%) responded the survey. Among patients, 62.5% were female median age 52...
Pim kinases are highly conserved serine/threonine kinases, and different expression patterns of each isoform (Pim-1, Pim-2, Pim-3) have been observed in various types human cancers, including gastric cancer. AZD1208 is a potent selective inhibitor that affects all three isoforms Pim. We investigated the effects as single agent combination with an Akt cancer cells. The antitumor activity with/without was evaluated large panel cell lines through growth inhibition assays. The underlying...
An attempt to confirm the reported direct one-proton and two-proton decays of (21+) isomer at 6.7(5) MeV in 94Ag has been made. The 0.39(4) s half-life permitted use a helium-jet system transport reaction products from 40Ca + (nat)Ni 197 low-background area; 24 gas DeltaE-(Si)E detector telescopes were used identify emitted protons down 0.4 MeV. No evidence was obtained for radioactivity with summed energy 1.9(1) branching ratio 0.5(3)%. Two groups this had also reported; our data lower...
The purpose of this study was to demonstrate the ability BMP-2-immobilized polycaprolactone (PCL) fibers modified using γ -ray irradiation technique induce osteogenic differentiation MG-63 cells. Poly acrylic acid (AAc) grafted onto PCL by technique. BMP-2 then subsequently immobilized AAc-PCL (BMP-2/AAc-PCL). and surface-modified characterized evaluation with a scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), contact angle. biological activity were alkaline...
Thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) results from compression of the neurovascular bundle in thoracic outlet. Several etiologies can contribute to development syndrome, including both congenital and acquired causes. Historically, trapezius pathology has not been considered a cause TOS; however, here we report patient with neurogenic TOS plus ipsilateral hypertonicity hypertrophy who had significant symptomatic improvement following botulinum toxin injections trapezius.
The implatnation of malignant cells along the needle tract is an extremely rare complication after a percutaneous fine-needle aspiration biopsy(FNAB). However, it very serious and may result in change prognosis lung cancer, especially curable early stage(T1-2,N0,M0). Recently, we experienced two cases such complications. A 43 years old female underwent fine biopsy right middle lobectomy with adjuvant chemotherapy due to adenocarcinoma(T2N0M0). Two later, new tumor developed at site biopsy....
10067 Background: Patients’ proper understanding and consent to participate are crucial for successful conduction of clinical trials (CT). We have conducted a survey, assess the current patients’ understanding, perception willingness in CTs. Methods: From December 2012 August 2015, we distributed questionnaire cancer patients receiving chemotherapy at Seoul National University Hospital, Seoul, Korea. The was composed questions assessing patient’s levels awareness CT, benefit/risk, CTs...
