Summary Background Tiotropium bromide, a long acting muscarinic receptor inhibitor, is potent agent for patients with bronchial asthma as well chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate whether tiotropium bromide can inhibit allergen‐induced acute and airway inflammation, T helper (Th)2 cytokine production, remodelling in murine model asthma. Methods Balb/c mice were sensitized challenged acutely or chronically ovalbumin (OVA). impact assessed...
We determined the antiepileptic profile of tiagabine (TGB), a selective gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) uptake inhibitor, in rat kindling model temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE).The anticonvulsant and adverse effects TGB were examined amygdala- or hippocampal-kindled rats compared with those other GABA inhibitors (SKF89976A NNC-711) conventional drugs [AEDs: valproate (VPA) carbamazepine (CBZ)]. In addition, antiepileptogenic on amygdala development examined.TGB (2.5-40 mg/kg intraperitoneally,...
Bovine cultured adrenal medullary cells (4 x 10(6)) contained 4266.5 +/- 370.0 fmol of immunoreactive adrenomedullin and 373.4 32.6 nmol catecholamines. Nicotinic (but not muscarinic) receptors mediated the Ca(2+)-dependent co-secretion catecholamines, with molar ratio adrenomedullin/catecholamines secreted into medium being equal to stored in cells. The concentration-response curve carbachol for secretion (EC50 42 microM) was similar that catecholamine 63 microM). Reverse phase HPLC...
Background:Intimal hyperplasia (IH) is a major cause of graft failure. Hemodynamic factors such as stagnation and disturbed blood flow are involved in IH formation. The aim this study to perform comparative analysis distal-end side-to-side (deSTS) end-to-side (ETS) anastomoses using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) after validating the results via particle image velocimetry (PIV).
Adoptive immunotherapy using recombinant interleukin-2 (rIL-2) has recently been demonstrated to have antitumor effects in man. Adverse included an apparent increase capillary permeability (vascular leak syndrome) and a decrease glomerular flow rate. To our knowledge, nephrotic syndrome (NS) associated with rIL-2 not reported. We would like report case of NS human treatment
A 70-year-old woman with type IIb therapy-refractory hyperlipidemia was diagnosed as having IgA kappa multiple myeloma. She had neither a family history nor any other disease known to accompany hyperlipidemia. The serum concentration fell from 3.42 g/dl 1.24 following chemotherapy melphalan and prednisolone, concomitant decrease in both the cholesterol triglyceride levels observed. These lipids were positively correlated (p < 0.001) during three cycles of chemotherapy. findings suggest...
Two inbred strains of the Mongolian gerbil with different phenotypes in seizure behaviour and coat color were newly established. LSAG/Nu has low susceptibility albino phenotypes, whereas SPBG/Nu seizure-prone black phenotypes. LSAG was compared SPBG as to incidence grade. Mean ages at onset 6 3 months, respectively. Seizure incidences over 9 months old gerbils 37.3% (66/177) 95.2% (118/124), a significantly lower (p<0.001) grade seizures than SPBG. Only few seizing exhibited myoclonus...
In patients with massive destruction caused by mitral endocarditis, surgical valve repair remains a challenging issue. Although several procedures have previously been introduced, no standard method for complicated lesions has established. We describe technique of extensive destructive endocarditis involving both leaflets and the annulus that provided satisfactory initial results in 2 patients. This procedure is believed to be technically simple beneficial terms active endocarditis.
We present a case in which redo patient whom advanced gastric cancer was detected after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) using the right gastroepiploic (RGEA), and re-grafting to distal RGEA internal thoracic (RITA) performed. To minimize surgical invasion before gastrectomy, we performed thoracoscopic RITA harvest small subxyphoid incision. A month later, gastrectomy carried out no complications occurred during operation.
