Fatty liver disease is a multisystem disease. Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty (MAFLD) more accurate indicator of chronic kidney (CKD) than nonalcoholic (NAFLD). However, the relationship between recently defined metabolic steatotic (MASLD) and CKD currently unclear. The objective this cross-sectional study was to investigate prevalence albuminuria among individuals diagnosed with either MAFLD or MASLD.

Background: We recently developed a simple novel index called fibrosis 6 (FIB-6) using machine learning data analysis. aimed to evaluate its performance in the diagnosis of liver and cirrhosis chronic hepatitis B (CHB). Methods: A retrospective observational analysis was obtained from seven countries (Egypt, Kingdom Saudi Arabia (KSA), Turkey, Greece, Oman, Qatar, Jordan) CHB patients. The inclusion criteria were receiving an adequate biopsy complete biochemical hematological data....

Background/Aims To evaluate the ability of recently proposed albumin, international normalized ratio (INR), mental status, systolic blood pressure, age >65 years (AIMS65) score to predict mortality in patients with acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB). Methods AIMS65 scores were calculated 251 consecutive presenting UGIB by allotting 1 point each for albumin level <30 g/L, INR >1.5, alteration pressure ≤90 mm Hg, and ≥65 years. Risk stratification was done during initial 12 hours...

Summary Factors influencing the morbidity and mortality associated with viremic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection change over time place, making it difficult to compare reported estimates. Models were developed for 17 countries (Bahrain, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Colombia, Croatia, Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Ghana, Hong Kong, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Qatar Taiwan) quantify characterize population as well forecast changes in infected corresponding disease burden from 2015...

Background and Aim: Many indirect noninvasive scores to predict liver fibrosis are calculated from routine blood investigations. Only limited studies have compared their efficacy head head. We aimed compare these with biopsy stages in patients chronic hepatitis C. Materials Methods: From investigations of 1602 C who underwent a before initiation antiviral treatment, 19 simple were calculated. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curves diagnostic accuracy each (with reference...

Recently, attention has been focussed on adiponectin and its changes in different types of chronic liver disease. Its relation to hepatic fibrosis insulin resistance post-hepatitis disease is not clear. The aim this study was clarify the genotype 4 hepatitis C virus (HCV)-infected patient histology resistance, usefulness as a predictor response treatment. Total high molecular weight (HMW) form well levels were studied 92 HCV, 66 healthy control volunteers. Neither total (r = 0.101, P 0.220)...

Non-invasive tests (NITs), such as Fibrosis-4 index (FIB-4) and the aspartate aminotransferase-to-platelet ratio (APRI), developed using classical statistical methods, are increasingly used for determining liver fibrosis stages recommended in treatment guidelines replacing biopsy. Application of conventional cutoffs FIB-4 APRI resulted high rates misclassification stages. There is an unmet need more accurate NITs that can overcome limitations APRI.Machine learning with random forest algorithm...

Background Despite the introduction of direct-acting antiviral agents for chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, peginterferon alfa/ribavirin remains relevant in many resource-constrained settings. The non-randomized GUARD-C cohort investigated baseline predictors safety-related dose reductions or discontinuations (sr-RD) and their impact on sustained virologic response (SVR) patients receiving routine practice. Summary. Among individuals with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, approximately 30% of patients show persistently normal alanine aminotransferase (PNALT). Individuals PNALT have been historically excluded from antiviral treatment. However, some studies reported sudden worsening disease in PNALT, suggesting the need to treat such individuals. To evaluate this further, we compared fibrosis severity and response treatment abnormal ALT. In addition, investigated whether liver histology...
