Although hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae (hvKp) has been associated with severe community-acquired infections that occur among relatively healthy individuals, information about hvKp in health care settings remains limited. Here, we systematically analyzed the clinical and molecular characteristics of K. isolates causing bloodstream a cross-sectional study. Clinical from hospitals across Japan were by review medical records. Whole-genome sequencing causative was performed. Bacterial...

Abstract The geriatric nutritional risk index (GNRI) and creatinine (Cr) are indexes often used as surrogates in patients receiving hemodialysis. Background: Despite improvements in dialysis treatment, mortality rates remain high, especially among older hemodialysis patients. Quality of life (QOL) patients is strongly associated with higher risk death. Abstract Background Recent database studies indicate an increase in new cases of autoimmune inflammatory rheumatic diseases (AIIRDs) following coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), but these have significant limitations. The main issue is the reliance on codes like ICD-10 for diagnoses, which does not ensure accuracy. Overcoming limitation previous studies, we studied whether a history COVID-19 infection increases risk developing AIIRDs requiring disease-specific treatment.Figure 1.Details...

Abstract Background Current guidelines for community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) include ampicillin/sulbactam as an initial treatment option, though they do not mandate routine coverage of anaerobic organisms. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness with that ceftriaxone CAP in older adults. Methods was conducted using target trial emulation framework, utilizing a nationwide Japanese database (May 2010–June 2023). The included patients aged 65 years and older, admitted Diagnosis Procedure...

Hypothermia is a risk factor for death in intensive care unit (ICU) patients with severe sepsis and septic shock. In the present study, we investigated association between body temperature (BT) on arrival at emergency department (ED) mortality bacterial infection. We conducted retrospective cohort study consecutive ED over 15 years of age infection who were admitted to an urban teaching hospital Japan 2010 2012. The main outcome measure was 30-day in-hospital mortality. Each patient assigned...

Accidental hypothermia is a serious condition that requires immediate and accurate assessment to determine severity treatment. Currently, accidental evaluated using the Swiss grading system which uses core body temperature clinical findings; however, research has shown not associated with in-hospital mortality in urban settings. Therefore, we developed validated scale for predicting among Japanese patients hypothermia.Data this multi-center retrospective cohort study were obtained from...
