The oxidative amination of alkynes typically requires transition metal catalysts and strong oxidants. Herein, we alternatively utilize DABCO as a sulfur-activating catalyst to achieve the sulfurative 1,2-diamination phenylacetylenes with elemental sulfur o-phenylenediamines.
