Background: Hyponatremia is the most common electrolyte abnormality seen in general hospital patients, with an incidence of 1% to 6% United States. Objective: We aimed evaluate impact varying levels hyponatremia at admission on length stay (LOS) and cost care adult hospitalized patients. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted using existing clinical database from a large academic-setting hospital. All admissions January 2004 through May 2005 serum sodium level ≤ 134 mEq/L were...
ABSTRACT This case-control study detected and characterized Shigella diarrheagenic Escherichia coli (DEC) types among Vietnamese children less than 5 years old. In 249 with diarrhea 124 controls, spp. was an important cause of ( P < 0.05). We used multiplex PCR DNA probes to detect enteroinvasive E. (EIEC), enteroaggregative (EAggEC), enteropathogenic (EPEC), attaching effacing (A/EEC), verocytotoxin-producing (VTEC), enterotoxigenic (ETEC). The prevalences DEC in the control groups were...
Using Herzberg–Teller-surface selection rules in combination with the results of DFT calculations, SERS mechanism based on ZnO/Ag substrate has indicated a significant electromagnetic contribution versus Ag substrate, which charge transfer plays pivotal role.
Abstract BACKGROUND. The study aimed to identify factors associated with less‐than‐optimal radiotherapy (RT) and its impact on disease‐free survival in women aged 66+ years diagnosed stage I breast cancer or ductal carcinoma situ (DCIS). METHODS. subjects were from 1991 1999 the linked Surveillance, Epidemiology, End Results (SEER)‐Medicare database who underwent breast‐conserving surgery RT within 12 months postdiagnosis. authors conducted descriptive multivariate analyses, considered age,...
AbstractThe aim of this study is to elucidate the structure and investigate hypolipidaemic activity a fucoidan extracted from brown seaweed Sargassum henslowianum collected at Hai Van–Son Cha peninsula, Hue province, Vietnam by using tandem electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry. The results demonstrated that has α(1 → 3)-linked l-fucopyranose backbone sulphate groups occupied mostly C-2, C-4 sometimes C-3 position fucose residues. in vivo bioactivity examination revealed dose 100...
Sphagneticola trilobata L. Pruski – Asteraceae, is an introduced species, that grows wild and has strong growth ability. The study was conducted to determine the polyphenol content biological activity of extract fractions from leaves S. trilobata. Total determined by Follin Ciocalteu reagent, antioxidant DPPH free radical scavenging, antimicrobial against aureus C. albicans agar disk diffusion method. results showed ranged 2.95 45.83 mg GAE/g with IC50 values ranged 4.51 856.93 μg/mL....
Symplocos sumuntia Buch-Ham ex D Don is traditionally used to relieve inflammation in Vietnam. This study described a chemical investigation that led isolation and identification of one new nine known compounds. Their structures were determined by using spectroscopic techniques. Compounds 1 - 10 possessed inhibitory activities on NO production induced LPS activated macrophages. Among them, compounds 2 3 demonstrated strong ability reduce with IC50 values 3.91 ± 0.05 3.96 0.24 µM,...
In Vietnam, the stems and roots of Rutaceous plant Paramignya trimera (Oliv.) Burkill (known locally as "Xáo tam phân") are widely used to treat liver diseases such viral hepatitis acute chronic cirrhosis. an effort search for Vietnamese natural compounds capable inhibiting coronavirus based on molecular docking screening, two new dimeric coumarin glycosides, namely cis-paratrimerin B (1) A (2), previously identified coumarins, trans-isomers paratrimerin (3) (4), were isolated from P. tested...
To define the musculoskeletal syndrome associated with use of aromatase inhibitors (AIs), specifically, to describe its incidence, time onset, risk factors, and clinical presentation.Postmenopausal women hormone-sensitive, nonmetastatic breast cancer starting AI therapy were enrolled in this prospective cohort study. They underwent complete rheumatologic evaluation contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) hands wrists prior AI, at 3 6 months. The primary outcome was change grip...
The stilbene-rich acetone fraction in high yield (6.6 %, PEAS) of Passiflora edulis Sims was prepared and evaluated for neuroprotective activity murine Alzheimer's disease model induced by aluminum chloride D-galactose. phytochemical HPLC-DAD-MS analysis the polyphenolic showed that it contained different stilbenes including trans-piceatannol, scirpusins A-B cassigarol E. total phenolic content (TPC) PEAS 413.87±1.71 mg GAE eqv/g. is typically presented Morris water maze-reference Spatial...
Nine compounds, including six phenylethanoid glycosides: acteoside (1); bioside (2); echinacoside (3); poliumoside (4); phenylethyl glycoside (5); salidroside (6) and three flavonoids; linarin (7); apigenin (8); isorhoifolin (9), were isolated from the flowers of Buddleja officinalis MAXIM. (Buddlejaceae). Chemical structures confirmed by 1H-, 13C-NMR, MS spectral methods compared with those reported in literature. Antioxidant activities methanol water extracts, all compounds evaluated using...
Two new dimeric monoterpene-linked coumarin glucosides, paratrimerins A (1) and B (2), three known coumarins, 6-(6-hydroxy-3,7-dimethylocta-2,7-dienyl)-7-hydroxycoumarin (3), ostruthin (4), ninhvanin (5), were isolated from the roots stems of Paramignya trimera (OLIV.) GUILL. collected in Khanh Hoa province, Vietnam. Compound 1 comprises two 7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside coumarins linked at positions 6,6′ via a 1,3,4,4-tetrasubstituted cyclohexene containing monoterpene bridge, whereas compound 2...
One new β-carboline alkaloid 7-methoxy-(9H-β-carbolin-1-il)-(E)-1-propenoic acid (1) together with 9-methoxycanthin-6-one (2) and 9-hydroxycanthin-6-one (3) were isolated from the hairy-root cultures of Eurycoma longifolia. The effects these compounds on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced nitric oxide (NO) production in RAW264.7 cells investigated. Compound 1 strongly inhibited NO while 2 3 having weak or inactive effect. Consistently, compound decreased expression cyclooxygenase-2 inducible synthase.
