Abstract Microplastic pollution caused by washing processes of synthetic textiles has recently been assessed as the main source primary microplastics in oceans. Therefore, understanding effective contribution process clothes to this environmental problem, is great importance. In study, wash trials at real scale were performed on commercial using a household machine order gain reliable data about release microplastics, and identify possible influences textile characteristics release. The...
Textiles are one of the major sources microplastic pollution to aquatic environments and have also been reported in dry wet atmospheric deposition. There is still a lack information on direct release microfibers from garments air influence textile characteristics including structure, type yarn, twist. The present study examines microfiber emissions directly water as consequence laundering. Polyester with different were examined various material compositions, fabric yarn twist, fiber type,...

Abstract Microplastics released from textiles during the washing process represent most prevalent type of microparticles found in different environmental compartments and ecosystems around world. Release microfibres synthetic is due to mechanical chemical stresses that clothes undergo machines. Several parameters, conditions, formulations laundering additives have been correlated microfibre release some them identified affect process, while no correlation has evaluated between load. In...
Abstract Graphene-based functional coatings for cotton textiles were realized through an easy dip-coating procedure. Cotton fabrics coated with a reduced graphene oxide (rGO) layer and then protected very thin polyurethane (PU) that does not affect the flexibility hand of pristine cotton. The application rGO coating induces electrical conductivity to fabric PU phase increases durability coatings, show stable surface resistivity after 10 washing cycles performed at temperatures up 40 °C....
Biodegradable polymers are proposed as a potential solution to environmental problems related plastic pollution. Potential benefits have been suggested in applications such agricultural mulching and fishing gear, where there can be considerable difficulty recovering products from the environment at end of their service life. Biodegradation is complex process influenced by both properties material receiving which it needs biodegrade. Assessing degradation necessitates chemical composition...
We report a clinical and biochemical survey of 23 patients with Friedreich's ataxia from southern Italy. They were studied clinically by means rating scale devised us (Inherited Ataxias Clinical Rating Scale). Laboratory tests, based on the Quebec Cooperative Study, also performed our patients. No major or differences found between Italian Canadian Investigation CSF monoamine metabolites showed that HVA decreased after probenecid metoclopramide loading.
Choroideremia (CHM), an X-linked degeneration of the retinal pigmented epithelium (RPE), photoreceptors, and choroid, ultimately leads to blindness. It is caused by loss-of-function CHM gene product, Rab escort protein 1 (REP1) that involved, together with its homologue REP2, in prenylation GTPases, key regulators intracellular vesicular traffic. Here, we report molecular characterization 20 unrelated Italian families affected CHM. We identified 19 different mutations, nine which are new. In...
Microplastics have become a topic of considerable concern and intensive study over the past decade. They been found everywhere in oceans, including deepest trenches remotest parts Arctic. are ingested by many animals some incorporated into tissues. There is effort studying what effects they on marine life. It has clear that when water samples collected ways prevent most long thin particles from escaping through pores net, abundant type microplastics sediments microfibers (fibers with...
In response to the plastic waste crisis, teabag producers have substituted petrochemical-plastic content of their products with bio-based, biodegradable polymers such as polylactic acid (PLA). Despite widespread use, degradation rate PLA/PLA-blended materials in natural soil and effects on biota are poorly understood. This study examined percentage mass deterioration teabags differing cellulose:PLA compositions following burial (−10 cm depth) an arable field margin for 7-months, using a...
Equine sarcoids are caused by infection with bovine papillomavirus (BPV) types 1, 2, and possibly 13. However, a number of lack BPV DNA, new potential etiological agents for sarcoid diseases need to be considered. High-performance digital droplet polymerase chain reaction (ddPCR) was used the quantitative detection ovine (OaPV) 1–4 DNA from 63 samples collected in Austria. All were comparatively evaluated OaPV loads qPCR. Conventional PCR amplicon sequencing validate data. Of isolates, ddPCR...
BPV1, BPV2, BPV13, and BPV14 are all genotypes of bovine delta papillomaviruses (δPV), which the first three cause infections in horses associated with equine sarcoids. However, infection has never been reported species. In this study, we examined 58 fresh thawed commercial semen samples from healthy stallions. 34 (58.6%), δPV DNA was detected quantified using droplet digital polymerase chain reaction (ddPCR). Real time quantitative PCR (qPCR) able to identify 5 (8.6%). Of BPV-infected...
Over the last few decades, a large number of pH sensitive materials with new compositions and structures have been proposed. Solid state sensors based on organic, inorganic composite are actively investigated, an increasing interest in performance offered by nano-scale materials. Our review provides thorough, up-to-date knowledge wide range measurement methods related sensing materials, firstly introducing well established for then, covering recent developments inorganic, organic...
