Since 1999 the British Guidelines on Management of Asthma have been produced jointly by Thoracic Society (BTS) and Scottish Intercollegiate Guideline Network (SIGN) using a rigorous evidence-based methodology.Sections within guideline revised regularly, with Pharmacological section being updated nearly every year.We believe this has resulted in 'living guideline' that is responsive to new research current for clinicians. For 2011, two sections added Monitoring Control Adolescents.

This study evaluated the efficacy tolerability of omalizumab in patients controlled, moderate‐to‐severe allergic asthma. Methods: was a randomized, open‐label, multicentre, parallel‐group study. A total 312 (12–73 years) receiving ≥400 μ g/day (adolescent) or ≥800 (adult) inhaled beclomethasone dipropionate, equivalent were included. received best standard care (BSC) without [at least 0.016 mg/kg/IgE...

Acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding is the commonest medical emergency managed by gastroenterologists in United Kingdom. The most frequently identified source of peptic ulcer disease, but other important causes exist, particularly oesophageal or gastric varices, which are classically associated with more severe bleeding. A large audit UK 20071 indicated that rate mortality from acute (about 7%) has not changed much over past 50 years, and service provision varies considerably across UK....
