Several widely used tests for outlying observations are reviewed. Problems of repeated application and "masking" described. Suggested as appropriate to over-come these problems two new statistics: Lk which is based on the k largest (observed) values Ek (in absolute value) residuals. A method of implementing wavelength division multiplexed-passive optical network (WDM-PON) upstream channels based on spectral slicing with wavelength-seeded travelling-wave reflective semiconductor amplifier (SOA) modulators is described. dense WDM comprising eight 1 nm slices, each modulated at a data rate 1.25 Gbit/s are shown to operate over 25 km standard fibre negligible crosstalk and < dB dispersion penalty.

1.55- mu m gain-coupled InGaAsP-InP distributed feedback (DFB) lasers which use a strained-layer multi-quantum-well (MQW) active grating for mixed index and gain coupling have been fabricated studied. The exhibit distinct longitudinal-mode behaviour due to gain-coupling effects, including high single-mode yield. Cavity length dependence of the mode behavior has experimentally studied simulated using transfer-matrix method. Both experimental theoretical results indicate that shorter cavity...

Abstract A procedure of studentizing or standardizing the residuals by dividing them their estimated standard deviations is proposed for testing outliers in simple linear regression. simulation study yielded critical values test statistic, and it shown that these are extremely close to Grubbs' (1950) Table IA independent taken variable. Resting heart rate and maximal intake were unchanged, but the response to acute exercise was decreased. Following heavy training, blood samples taken at rest showed trends a decreased helper/suppressor cell ratio, phytohemagglutinin (PHA)- concanavalin (ConA)-stimulated lymphocyte...

Abstract. An observational and real-time model forecast study of the genesis Typhoon Nuri during Tropical Cyclone Structure 2008 (TCS-08) field campaign in western North Pacific sector is presented. Analysis data show that surrounding base state an easterly trade wind flow precursor disturbance to wave originates ITCZ Central Pacific. This can be tracked more than 10 days prior tropical storm formation. overview presented here using a newly proposed dynamical framework for cyclone formation...

NE method of studying the inheritance body size in mammals involves divergent selection lines for large and small size.A difficulty encountered this type experiment is that differences obtained weight or traits genetically correlated with may not be due solely to genatype growth rate per se, but include prenatal postnatal maternal between two which have arisen as a response selection.Correlated changes (lactational) effects been observed mice, even when made on within-litter basis (BRUMBY...

ABSTRACT Methods are given for using readily available nonlinear regression programs to produce maximum likelihood estimates in a rather natural way. Used as suggested the common Gauss‐Newton algorithm least squares becomes Fisher scoring estimation. In some cases it is also Newton‐Raphson algorithm. The standard errors produced information theory up possible multiple. This means that much of auxiliary output by analysis directly applicable analysis. Illustrative applications Poisson,...
