The present report documents the results of Working Group 2: B, D and K decays, workshop on Flavor in Era LHC, held at CERN from November 2005 through March 2007. With advent we will be able to probe New Physics (NP) up energy scales almost one order magnitude larger than it has been possible with accelerator facilities. While direct detection new particles main avenue establish presence NP indirect searches provide precious complementary information, since most probably not measure full...

Abstract The ATLAS experiment is constructing new all-silicon inner tracking system for HL-LHC. strip detectors cover the radial extent of 40 to 100 cm. A approach adopted use p-type silicon material, making readout in n + -strips, so-called -in-p sensors. This allows enhanced radiation tolerance against an order magnitude higher particle fluence compared LHC. To cope with varying hit rates and occupancies as a function distance, there are two barrel sensor types, short strips (SS) 2 long...

Detecting low dose rates of X-rays is critical for making safer radiology instruments, but limited by the absorber materials available. Here, we develop bismuth oxyiodide (BiOI) single crystals into effective X-ray detectors. BiOI features complex lattice dynamics, owing to ionic character and weak van der Waals interactions between layers. Through use ultrafast spectroscopy, first-principles computations detailed optical structural characterisation, show that photoexcited charge-carriers in...
