Initial management of severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) is conservative. As a step-up approach, percutaneous catheter drainage (PCD) with saline irrigation reported to be effective. Factors leading surgery are unclear. In this ongoing prospective study, 70 consecutive patients SAP were recruited. all initially received medical and later underwent PCD as per the indication.Of SAP, 14 managed medically, 29 alone, whereas 27 required after initial PCD. Sepsis reversal was achieved alone in 62.5%....
Hypermethylation of 5′-cytosine-guanosine islands tumor suppressor genes resulting in their silencing has been proposed to be a hallmark various tumors. Modulation DNA methylation with inhibitors shown result cancer cell differentiation or apoptosis and represents novel strategy for chemotherapy. Currently, effective are mainly limited decitabine 5-azacytidine, which still show unfavorable toxicity profiles the clinical setting. Thus, discovery development hypomethylating agents, more...
Persistent activation of the signal transducer and activator transcription 3 (STAT3) signalling has been linked to oncogenesis development chemotherapy resistance in glioblastoma other cancers. Inhibition STAT3 pathway thus represents an attractive therapeutic approach for cancer. In this study, we investigated inhibitory effects a small molecule compound known as LLL-3, which is structural analogue earlier reported inhibitor, STA-21, on cell viability human cells, U87, U373, U251 expressing...
Endoscopic treatment of pancreatic necrosis is less invasive than surgery but a technically demanding procedure. The aim the present study was to retrospectively evaluate safety and efficacy endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided transmural drainage symptomatic non-bulging walled-off (WOPN) without use fluoroscopy.Over last 24 months, 20 patients (16 men) with WOPN were treated endoscopically at Department Gastroenterology, PGIMER, Chandigarh, India. The transmurally approached using linear...
Abstract Aim: To assess the pattern of antimicrobial resistance Helicobacter pylori isolates from peptic ulcer disease patients Chandigarh, Delhi, Lucknow, Hyderabad and Chennai in India, to recommend an updated anti‐ H. treatment regimen be used these areas. Methods: Two hundred fifty‐nine with reporting for clinical management Post Graduate Institute Medical Education Research, Chandigarh; All India Sciences, New Delhi; Sanjay Gandhi Lucknow; Deccan College Sciences Allied Hospitals,...
Background/Aim: Oxidative stress plays a major role in the pathogenesis of pancreatitis. Antioxidant therapy form high-dose vitamin has been used for treatment severe acute pancreatitis with equivocal results. We wished to evaluate efficacy and safety antioxidant (vitamin A, C, E) patients Setting design: This was single-center, prospective, randomized, open-label blinded endpoint assessment study therapy, conducted emergency department attached our hospital. Materials Methods: Thirty-nine...
A recent genome-wide association study (GWAS) identified with variants in X-linked CLDN2 and MORC4, PRSS1-PRSS2 loci chronic pancreatitis (CP) North American patients of European ancestry. We selected 9 from the reported GWAS replicated CP Indian by genotyping 1807 unrelated Indians Indo-European ethnicity, including 519 1288 controls. The etiology was idiopathic 83.62% alcoholic 16.38% patients. Our confirmed a significant 2 gene (rs4409525—OR 1.71, P = 1.38 x 10-09; rs12008279—OR 1.56,...
The role of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is not yet fully established in children. purpose this study was to assess the use ERCP diagnosis and management various pancreaticobiliary disorders children.Eighty-four ERCPs were performed over 5.5 years 72 children with suspected tract an adult-type duodenoscope. In all cases, indications, procedure time, findings, complications, patients course therapeutic intervention (if any) recorded. The mean (+/- SD) age these 8.8 +/-...
The study evaluated 48 patients with carcinoma of the oesophagus to assess optimal number biopsy specimens required obtain highest yield. Eight were obtained from each patient and two placed serially in four vials. first vial provided a positive diagnosis 95.8% cases. addition more (second vial) increased yield 97.9% fifth sixth 100%. There was no statistically significant difference according site type growth.
Abstract Background: Pancreatic ascites and pleural effusion are uncommon sequelae of pancreatitis associated with significant morbidity mortality. Endoscopic decompression the pancreatic duct through transpapillary stent or nasopancreatic drain (NPD) has shown encouraging results but experience is limited. The aim present study was to evaluate efficacy endoscopic drainage in patients effusion. Methods: Over a period 9 years, 10 (eight male) and/or disruption documented on pancreatogram were...
