A comparative characterization of proteins from three edible insects—Tenebrio molitor (mealworm) larvae, Gryllus bimaculatus (cricket), and Bombyx mori (silkworm) pupae—was performed in this study. Proteins were extracted insects their hydrolysates prepared through enzymatic hydrolysis with commercial enzymes (Flavourzyme: 12%; Alcalase: 3%). Solubility was significantly higher following hydrolysis, while foamability lower compared to those the protein control. Angiotensin-converting enzyme...

We report on magnetization M(H), dc and ac magnetic susceptibility χ(T), specific heat Cm(T) muon spin relaxation (μSR) measurements of the Kitaev honeycomb iridate Cu2IrO3 with quenched disorder. In spite chemical disorders, we find no indication glass down to 260 mK from μSR data. Furthermore, a persistent dynamics observed by zero-field evidences an absence static magnetism. The remarkable observation is scaling relation χ[H,T] M[H,T] in H/T exponent α=0.26–0.28, expected bond randomness....

The structural identity of the biomineralized iron core nanoparticles in Helicobacter pylori ferritins (Hpf's) has been determined by employing soft x-ray absorption spectroscopy and magnetic circular dichroism. Valence states Fe ions are nearly trivalent all Hpf's, indicating that amount magnetite (Fe3O4) is negligible. With increasing filling ions, local configurations Fe3+ change from mixture tetrahedral octahedral symmetries to symmetry. These results demonstrate biomineralization...
