Background: Cancer-cachexia induces a variety of metabolic disorders, including skeletal muscle imbalance. Alternative therapy, as nutritional supplementation with leucine, shows modulatory effect over tumour damage in vivo and vitro. Method: Adult rats distributed into Control (C), Walker tumour-bearing (W), control fed leucine-rich diet (L), (WL) groups had the gastrocnemius metabolomic proteomic assays performed parallel to vitro assays. Results: W group presented an affected profile...
Saturated fats can damage hypothalamic neurons resulting in positive energy balance, and this is mitigated by mild cellular stress; however, the mechanisms behind protective effect are unknown. Using a proopiomelanocortin cell line, we show that under exposure to high concentration of palmitate, partial inhibition mitochondrial protein Crif1 results protection due metabolic shift warranted increased expression activity fatty acid transporter CPT-1.
Skeletal muscle atrophy occurs in several pathological conditions, such as cancer, especially during cancer-induced cachexia. This condition is associated with increased morbidity and poor treatment response, decreased quality of life, mortality cancer patients. A leucine-rich diet could be used a coadjutant therapy to prevent patients suffering from Besides atrophy, function loss even more important patient life. Therefore, this study aimed investigate the potential beneficial effects...
NEK10, a serine/threonine/tyrosine kinase belonging to the NEK (NIMA-related kinases) family, has been associated with diverse cellular processes. However, no specific target pathways have identified. Our previous work knocking down NEK10 in HeLa cells suggested functional association mitochondria, as we observed altered mitochondrial morphology, oxygen consumption, mtDNA integrity, and reactive species levels.
Abstract Background : Skeletal muscle atrophy occurs in several pathological conditions such as cancer, a condition termed cancer cachexia. This is associated with an increase morbidity and poor treatment response, decreasing quality of life, increased mortality patients. A leucine-rich diet could be used coadjutant therapy preventing cachexia hosts. Besides atrophy, function loss even more important to the patient’s life. Therefore, this study aimed evaluate effects on activity cachectic...
A retrospective cross-sectional study was performed in a DSD clinic at tertiary service (University Hospital) to estimate the frequency of disorders sex development (DSD) among men who seek medical care because infertility. The sample included 84 >20 years age referred from 2010-2017 due oligozoospermia or nonobstructive azoospermia unknown etiology. Twelve cases (14%) were diagnosed as DSD, including Klinefelter Syndrome, 46,XX testicular and mild androgen insensitivity syndrome. Y...

Pregnancy and childbirth cause adaptations to the birth canal allow for delivery fast recovery. To accommodate through canal, pubic symphysis undergoes changes that lead interpubic ligament (IpL) enthesis formation in primiparous mice. However, successive deliveries influence joint We aimed understand tissue morphology chondrogenic osteogenic potential at symphyseal during pregnancy postpartum multiparous senescent female Morphological molecular differences were found among study groups....
